My grandparents have one of those speciality fish mailboxes, and unfortunately the latch was clipped and needed to be replaced.Unfortunately, the door to the mailbox is too thick for this latch: The prongs are too short to be able to fit through the holes in the door and attach to the replacement latch on the other side of the door. I think this product will only work if you have a very thin mailbox, like aluminum-built.

The original lasted 24 years; this one started to show wear after 1; fell apart after 2. Not worth the time or money.

The locking part was to thick for my mailbox. Ground the tab off and inserted upside down and then it worked perfectly.

Das Verriegelungsset lässt sich gut öffnen und verschließen und ist gut zu montieren. Die Briekasten-Klappe schließt besser als vorher.

Update 2: Installed in October 2020 and by July 2023, the latch had turned white from sun exposure and crumbled in my hands when I went to open the box. Not built to withstand the elements...which is what it is supposed to be for. Not liking the idea of needing to replace every 2.5 years, but it was nice while it lasted. See last pic.Uppate 1: I was able to shave the posts down on that top catch with a utility blade and it now fits my mailbox. See Iast pic. It ended up being such an easy fix that I ordered a second one to fix my parents' mailbox and even though the estimate said it would take a week, I got it in a couple days. They have the exact same one I do so I was able to modify the top catch in advance and fix theirs in less than five minutes. I ended up replacing the circular magnets I show in my original pictures with some rectangular, waterproof rare earth magnets I found on Amazon for a good price. They are incredibly strong and add extra assurance against wind. Very satisfied with the outcome.Original Review: I have an extra large rural mailbox but the latch mechanism is the same size as any standard mailbox. The bottom latch broke from years of hot Carolina heat. It was plastic. I wanted to go ahead and replace the whole latch system. I like the red against my black mailbox but I could only use half the set. I replaced the broken bottom latch and had to keep the top catch (which isn't broken but is very old and weathered). I wish the post under the top catch were just straight at the top and did not have that nub at the top. The only place there needs to be a nun is where the clip slides on. That extra nub at the top of the piece will not go through the two slots at the top of my mailbox all the way. I couldn't put the clip on because the bottom nubs didn't poke through enough. You can see in on of my pictures that I mauled it a little trying to force it through. I would either have to drill bigger holes at the top of my box (which I don't want to do) or I am going to have to modify the piece by either filing/cutting or melting the top nubs when I have time. I will do that. For now, I am overall satisfied just to have a box that isn't constantly falling open and exposing my mail and packages to rain and potentially "sticky fingered" passers-by/naughty kids, etc. .Using the old top latch does not yield a perfect fit though it is better yhan it was. I also put some magnets in my mailbox that you'll see in one of the pics. They are at the top of the lid and in the top of box. Got a pack of 6 disks from Lowes for about 3 bucks. Just a little extra assurance...
