Overall quality is very good. Some sharp edges on the casting are easily smoothed out. The stainless hardware is of good quality. I gave it a four star rating because there is no plug for the cooler hose included. The lower fitting is not machined through, but the upper fitting is open. It was easily solved with a 716-20 aluminum plug from McMaster Carr, pn 3867T382, for $714.

Ordered as a replacement part for 89 mustang- looking forward to changing it out. Looks sturdy and has a nice finish.

I installed a moser rear axle in the kit car I just built. Before the car was even on the road the chrome cover that came on it started to leak. This aluminum diff cover is much nicer and will do the trick. It's a quality casting and with well machined surfaces for mating with the axle house. The casting is thick so it will seal well and keep from leaking and the fins will help dissipate the heat much better than a flat sheet metal its replacing. Definitely a great upgrade for my project and at a very reasonable price.

we have a 2001 mustang that we track. This went on easy, no issues with installation. Has held up for one track session so far - no loss of diff fluid or any other signs of problems. We don't run a temp gauge on the diff, so not sure if the fins are effective at cooling. But it was a good reduction in weight.

Doesn't fit 8.8 with tone ring (axle speed indicator) as in Ford Rangers 98-01, probably same for others with same set up. One internal fin is perfectly wrong right where the tone ring is. That fin can be cut out flush with the surface, there is plenty of material there for strength. I have done this on another brand of aluminum diff cover on an 8.8 with 5.76 gears, been running it for years. I also removed the internal splash cover for the breather, one less thing to have fall off and float around in there; considering the one unsubstantial little bolt that holds it on. On my application (99 Ford Ranger) the axle tube has a breather so I capped off the extra breather port. It is 7/16 fine thread fyi. Very nice product overall. Yes, I knew it specified for Mustangs when I purchased it. It can be used for a Ranger, if you have the time and means to cut off the internal aluminum fin.

Fits perfect on a 2014 down Ford 8.8. Same part that Steeda and others sell at a great savings.
