About this item

  • PLEASE NOTE: 1/4" MALE NPT THREADED INLET CONNECTION APPROX 0.54 INCHES OUTSIDE DIAMETER
  • Brass construction and stainless steel spring for corrosion resistance. The preset relief pressure is accurate to within +/- 3 percent and a silicon O-ring provides a leak-proof seal to within +/- 10 percent of the relief pressure.
  • 250 degrees F maximum temperature for use in high temperature applications
  • ASME safety rated with UV and NB marks

This Control Devices SV-165 ASME safety valve has a brass body, a 165 psi relief pressure, a 1/4" male NPT threaded inlet connection, and a stainless steel pull ring for manual pressure relief. The valve's brass body, brass valve seat, and the zinc plated steel spring resist corrosion and can be used in operating temperatures up to 250 degrees F. The preset relief pressure is accurate to within +/- 3 percent and a silicon O-ring provides a leak-proof seal to within +/- 10 percent of the relief pressure. This safety valve is American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) safety rated and displays the UV mark for pressure vessel safety valves. It also displays the NB mark for certification in accordance with NB-501, National Board Certification of Pressure Relief Devices. This safety valve has a 64 Standard Cubic Feet per Minute (SCFM) flow rate and is suitable for low capacity pressure relief applications such as in home construction air compressors. Relief valves remove excess pressure or vacuum from a system. The valve openings allow fluids or gases to escape to decrease pressure, and then close once the valve reaches the reseating pressure limit. They also relieve excess vacuum by opening to release a gas into the system and then closing after it reaches its low-pressure limit. Some relief valves have an adjustment mechanism to set the pressure where the valve opens, making it suitable for various applications. Relief valves are rated according to the volume of liquid or gas that can flow through them and the material that the valve is constructed from must be suitable for the fluid or gas, which may be corrosive or at an extreme temperature, in which it operates. Relief valves are used in a variety of applications, such as air compressors, petrochemical and chemical manufacturing, natural gas processing, and power generation.

I got this to replace a leaky, insufficient valve in an air compressor I bought at a yard sale. Taking the +/-10% degree accuracy into account, the compressor can now hold max pressure reliably.

I have an old Speedaire 20 gallon compressor I picked up off Facebook Marketplace that worked, but the safety valve leaked a little, draining down the tank a little faster than I would like. I found this and thought it would do the trick and maybe I could bump the PSIs up a little in the process. It works really well and now, I have no more leaks from my compressor. Plus, I could bump up my PSI from 120 to 130 and the compressor works a lot better now. Sure, it isn't a whole big deal, but man did it come in super handy and made a so-so compressor a real winner.

Fixed My Gifted Compressor For A Song! Was given an oldie but goodie Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic base model red tank pancake compressor because the relief valve popped open before reaching regulated shutoff pressure.Simple install, worked flawlessly at a competitive price point! Quality item, has all the certifications and ratings.Buy with confidence!

I wanted to turn the PSI up on my Frankensteined air compressor to 135PSI.I turned it up from 120 to 135 and it didn't blow off so all I can say for it is the fact that it's not under calibrated. My max psi is only 145 on the compressors tank tag. The tank is sold as 120PSI. The one downside is I noticed a slight leak from the valve where the piston goes into the valve, although a twist of the piston eliminated it. I'm talking micro leak as well.UPDATEIt started to leak again. I removed it cleaned it with soap and water, let it dry, then lubricated the valve with silicon spray then let it dry as well, functions like new again.

This release valve is exactly the one required for the 150 psi compressor. It came ahead of the expected delivery date.

Used for a light duty 60 gal Chicago Pneumatic compressor. Rating for compressor way below rating of replacement relief valve, so no big deal. Recommend checking with seller prior to ordering a valve if you're using on an industrial rated compressor.
