Tested on 4 pets microchipped in US and Europe - all chips were detected. Good item to have around to help reunite lost pets.

Received the item with the inside box opened. Seems like it was previously used. Scanned my dog for over 5 mins before we could get a reading. Could never get a reading on his second chip. Item returned

I used it on a stray cat that we brought into our household and it easily found its microchip.

This will find chips and it is great, however my wife did not have a chip so I am screwed. I checked everywhere.

This review is of the NetumScan Pet Microchip Reader, RFID EMID Portable Pet Chip Scanner Rechargeable Data Storage Animal Tag Scanner with Stable OLED Display for ISO 11784/11785,FDX-B and ID64 RFID.We have found ourselves rescuing several cats behind our new apartment lately, and having to try and bundle up a potentially aggressive feral cat to see if they are chipped is a literal pain. When I saw this available on Vine, I scooped it up to try it out.So far, we haven't had any new kitties show up to test this on, but the ones that come around now have shown no sign of a chip. The reader has also accurately shown that our cats do not have chips. :D In order to test this in the absence of a known chipped animal, we have done a few tests of our own.One of the fabulous things about this reader is that it came partially charged, so we were able to test it right out of the box. The second fabulous thing is that it comes with an RFID tag so you can test it! To test it, we first just tried to see if it would read directly, which it did. Then we started putting it under and behind things and in our fists and it read through all of them until we started getting into metal Altoid tins and metal cookie tins, at which point, as expected, it failed to read the chip. It also read from behind kitty ears and paws, as our cats were eager to "help" test by covering the dangly chip with their paws. We almost got to test it when one of our kitties tried to eat it... Doh!This reader comes with a USB cord that can be used to plug into a computer and upload data from the reader, if needed. We haven't used that functionality yet because we haven't read a stray cat's tag, but with as well as everything else is working, I am sure it will work fine. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because it is a bit expensive for what you get, and there are numerous other scanners on the market for $10-15 less, as of the time of this review. That being said, it does seem to work, so I can recommend it for keeping around the house if you tend to help trap or rescue cats or dogs.If anything changes with further usage, I will update my review.Disclaimer: We got this from Amazon Vine in exchange for an honest review.
