The activation process provided by Xfinity using the phone app did not work. The NETGEAR tool access by using a browser (192.168.1.1) allowed me to easily find the problem. The authentication at application layer by Comcast. The call took about 45 minutes and additional 20 minutes after the call when I was told everything on their end was okay. You just need to be patient.Hardware Version: 1.01Firmware Version: V2.1.5.2Cable Firmware Version: V1.02.08One important information you need is CM-MAC. There should be a sticker with this number on your modem but good to check in "ADVANCED"=>"Administration"=>"Event Log". There should be entries with CM-MAC address in "Description".

It's been up and running about two weeks now. Except for one reboot it's been working none stop with out an issue. The speed of my network is so much better now. Although my ISP reported really good network speeds I was getting dumped off my WiFi quite often with their modem. This has me on WiFi as much as I want to without fail. Great product to work with, easy to set up and use. The app has alot more detailed information than my last router app did. Also, the support team is great as well. They answered my questions and gave me good advice on how to set up other options I didn't even know I had. Great product, people and service.

Oh my, the setup was not fun. Devices couldn't connect no matter if I rebooted the device or modem. After a few days the problem seemed to stop. I have no issues now.Be aware that the instructions given isn't actually what happens. For instance, I have Comcast. The instructions given a basic walkthrough but aren't accurate. Luckily I'm somewhat familiar with setting up networks. Another issue that I did need the app to complete something's that could've been done via PC. And something's that I tried to access the router via the PC...I got no response. I still have some common devices that cannot connect to my guest network. The good: my speed is faster, and the app is cool

I bought this on Amazon after previously purchasing this same router for a different property. I chose this model because it is compatible with Xfinity, its compatibility with extenders I previously purchased, and its use of newer technologies like mesh wifi.It does have a smart feature for switching automatically between 5G and 2.4G bands - but this caused some software problems for me when working from home, and I recommend against it. Even without the smart feature, I have found that the network does a great job - strong signal and stability. I also have direct ethernet lines into it for my TV and gaming consoles, and these work extremely well.

The unit arrived and set up was relatively straightforward however there were several configuration changes that only Netgear support could figure out so after all that, it worked well for 9 months. Then it died. I mean lights are on but won't connect to the Internet, Wi-Fi is not working. I tried rebooting, a full factory reset but nothing worked. Contacted my cable company to see if they could ping it based on mac address but as suspected, it didn't reply. Moving on, I checked on my warranty status and discovered it only had 6 months coverage. After that either you pay for their extended warranty or you're out of luck. I'm one of those.Don't throw away $300+ on this item. It doesn't last and a company that only offers 6 months of warranty out of the box knows it!

This is a good Wifi router with really just one flaw, which is its single 2.5G Ethernet port. All of the 1GB ports work fine, but the 2.5 port drops my entire network connection (both ethernet and wifi) on my Mac Studio a couple of times every single day. Incredibly annoying while trying to stream a movie or FaceTime with family or anything else having your network connection abruptly stop working might interrupt...(Yes, I've spent hours with Apple support, Xfinity support, googling etc,; I've tried different CAT6/7/8 shielded and unshielded ethernet cables, the cables are only 6-footers, etc.)There are a ton of reports of this on Netgear's site, and yet not a word from them about it. I'd be shocked that they still sell this flawed product, but honestly I suspect very few people have a computer that supports more than the usual gig ethernet anyway. So for most people, this router should work great, but not if you're planning to use that fast ethernet port... I've been a Netgear customer for a long, long time but feel betrayed by this expensive router with a flawed port. My replacement for this will be a Motorola as I leave Netgear forever.
