It is not the one I expected because I wasn't. Looking for the making coffee latte , and this one , it is only for espresso and black regular coffee . And it is small too ,

I bought this for my beach house as my husband is a coffee freak and needs his daily espresso (several times a day). We have a very expensive built-in Miele unit at home that grinds the beans for each cup of coffee, has pre-programmable taste settings etc., etc., and my husband says this machine makes better coffee. He loves a lot of foam on his espresso and this does not disappoint. It produces A LOT of foam. So much so I find the first sip to be mostly foam, like a frothy beer. But for a coffee freak like my husband to go crazy over it says something. I'm super pleased with this purchase. Too bad it makes my built-in at home look like the ugly girl at the dance now.

So happy I gave up the keurig. This machine tastes great and is so easy to use. It's clearly made out of better quality components and works awesome.

Makes very tasty coffee with a nice foam on top. But....the coffee is not hot enough for my taste. I have to put it in the microwave for 30 seconds to get it piping hot. Others may not mind the temperature but I really do not find it satisfactory. Would not buy it again because of this.

I had stopped drinking coffee because my old coffee maker just didn't cut it anymore but I love a good espresso. After doing a little research I selected this machine. From the very first cup, I have been very happy. The coffee tastes great, the machine is well designed and is easy to operate. I read through prior reviews before selecting this one and I must agree with those who also love this machine. I hope I can find the pods in bulk

My review on this item is mixed. Like another reviewer mentioned - I am a die hard coffee fan. You'd think by the items name "Nespresso" - you'd be buying an espresso machine. Yes and no.There are two types of capsules that are available. One smaller sized capsule is specifically for "espresso", while the other larger capsules are for "coffee". The reason this machine is getting two stars and not 5, is because nearly everything out of this machine is more "espresso" than "coffee".I absolutely love an occasional espresso, and this machine makes them up to par with any coffee house. However, I love my coffee and drink it throughout the day - everyday. Drinking the "coffee" from this machine is like drinking straight espresso - its just too strong. My "star" rating is solely based on that fact, as the machine itself is fabulous in terms of quality and well - making espresso / cappuccinos. I'll get to that...Interesting fact many people do not know about coffee, and what they think is "strong". Most people think that dark roasted "strong" coffee has more kick (more caffeine). The truth is, the lighter the roast - the more caffeine content the coffee has. I love my light roasted coffee with my skim milk, lightly sweetened. The coffee put out by this machine is basically the darkest roast you can imagine...again, just like straight espresso.I generally drink 8 oz. of skim milk with 8 oz. of my morning coffee - again I like a lighter roast and the milk packs 8 grams of protein. To give you an idea of the potency of this coffee, I'd have to add about 20 oz. of milk to dilute the syrup like coffee. The milk frother is quite nice. I've owned several in the past (other brands), and this one is my favorite. It can lightly froth cold milk, which is a perk (though I only drink hot coffee), and heat pretty darn quickly on the heated setting. My favorite feature on it - is the fact that its fully submersible for cleaning. But there are some drawbacks. I believe for the "hot" setting, it holds about 6 oz of milk. It will turn that milk into 50-60% dry foam (which is fabulous for making a cappuccino) - but I prefer to drink coffee daily - not cappuccino. I wish it held a bit more milk, and had a setting to decrease the speed of the frothing coil (to change the foam consistency). Its just got one setting and it will put out ultra dry foam each time. Make sure you rinse / clean it immediately after use - it starts to crust and dry inside almost instantly - making it harder to clean if you wait.Whether you use a "coffee" or "espresso" capsule, this machine will dispense it in less than a minute. The frother will froth and heat your milk in less than a minute. Its faster than my Breville Keurig machine. Sadly I've found the "coffee" and "espresso" capsules are exactly the same in terms of the finished product they produce. The only difference is using a "coffee" capsule will produce more finished product...and the "espresso" capsule less product.A really neat feature is the fact that the machine actually reads a bar code on the inside of each capsule - and will adjust itself to dispense whichever type of capsule it is (espresso or coffee). The machine knows how many ounces to dispense by the bar code for each capsule also. There's also a way to manually top off your coffee, and save it to the machines memory - so that if you have a larger or smaller cup you often like to use - it will remember the ounces to dispense when you insert the capsule. Basically, if you use an extra large cup - and manually top off that cup with an "Elvazio" flavored capsule - each time you insert the same capsule it will remember the size of your cup and dispense accordingly. (Just giving Elvazio flavor as an example). You CAN NOT adjust the factory set temperature setting. At least, not that I know of or have read in any manual. I'd say the coffee is fairly hot. If I had a long commute to work every morning where my coffee would sit for a long period - I might say the coffee isn't hot enough for that.No matter which capsule you use, this machine will put out the coffee just like the photos...with a thick foam just like you'd have from a coffee house (coffee house espresso or cappuccino that is). The machine produces that frothed effect directly from the capsules - without adding any milk at all. If it was just lighter in taste and roast it would be fantastic. You could really impress your guests with these drinks also. I made coffee in it one morning, poured the wet portion of the frothed milk in the glass first. Then the machine dispensed the coffee. Then I topped it with the dry foam. This produced an amazing "layered" coffee...art really. I did this by complete accident. Neat! (And accidentally easy).More on your choice of coffee flavors / types. They all run just over $1. Very reasonable considering the quality of the coffee (again, 2 stars because they're all too strong). Each capsule has a fancy name, Hazelino (just call it hazelnut), or Stormio (just call it Guatemalan Blend) - I do like some things simple and to the point. Each capsule also is rated on a 1-11 scale in terms of "boldness" (I'd say light to dark roast scale). I've found trying many of the flavors that the scale is not accurate. To my taste they're all a 10 on the scale. The hazelnut I've found is much less strong than the others. There's still some flavors I've yet to try.The machine feels like a tank. Opening the lid after making your coffee, the capsules "backward ejects" down a chute into one of the clear containers. This feature is really, really neat. It also has a self cleaning function, which is activated by pressing the button 3 times within two seconds of each tap. It will run a cycle 3 times I believe. If you drink coffee as much as I do, invest in a RO/DI (reverse osmosis, de-ionization) unit. Its a fancy name for a water filter. You'll never have to worry about scale buildup in your expensive machines - not to mention have drinking water cleaner than any bottled water you could find. That just about sums up my experience thus far. Hopefully they will make some lighter roasts that produce a product more like coffee than espresso. 5 stars on quality, ease of use, features...2 stars on the product it produces (wishing it produced something closer to coffee than espresso).Oh and lastly, if you order from Nespresso - they have some limited edition flavors I have not been able to find on Amazon. I'm waiting on an order and curious to see how those taste.Hope this helps.---EDIT 2/8/2017: I mentioned wishing the milk frother making foam too dry. I did not realize that there were options for the foam consistency. This is done by simply changing out the little magnet spinner inside the frother. Literally a split second to do, its just a magnet. One spinner is a metal coil - for the "less milk, dry foam" option. The second spinner (which I didn't realize is actually attached on the underside of the lid by another magnet) - is for an "extra milk, more wet" foam option. What a perk!I have found that you can make a less strong coffee by running a cycle through a capsule twice. The manual specifically says "do not reuse capsules" however. Perhaps they're referring to making your own capsule. Now that I've tried every flavor, including the limited edition flavors on the Nespresso website - I can say again, the "boldness" scale is not accurate at all. They're all a ten boldness level in my opinion. And as fancy as all the names are, they pretty much all taste the same. The only capsule I've found that seems perfect as far as roast goes - is the limited edition banana flavored coffee. I do not like flavored coffee much, and certainly couldn't imagine myself liking banana flavored coffee - but oddly enough its the flavor / roast I like the most.Lastly, and a big "sigh"... I had a guest over the other evening - whom I must say actually loves the syrup like darkest roast of coffees. Black with no cream / milk (not my cup of tea...or coffee!). She could not drink the cup I made her, as her explanation was "its too strong". Case closed.
