I play contract bridge once a week. Every 6 hands [45 minutes] a bell is rung to prompt players to switch tables to play against new opponents. The old bell disappeared, and the backup was this deafening bronze bell. So I bought this bell. It is loud enough to be heard, without being painful. It is coated inside and out with a smooth durable finish. I suppose it could be broken, but this would require a LOT of force.

We used these to cheer on friends at a bike race - very happy with the sound quality. We attached a zip tie for a loop so it was easier to hang on to. Small enough to stash in a coat pocket. Would buy again.
