I was given 3 lens with metal filter rings that had been dropped or bumped. I was able to straighten and repair the threads to the filter ring. Repairing one filter ring paid for this great tool. Made well and should last a long time

It all looked good when it arrived. But i soon realized it wasnt what i thought. The back swivel came off. As it turns out, its glued to the screw and not one whole thing. That was annoying. It kept on coming lose all the time. I still tried to fix the lens, but the depth of the product was wrong for me. The lens is now stripped, the product also stripped and i have to find a way to fix an even worse lens mount. As a result, i now have a brick of steel.

This item is nearly identical to most lens/filter repair tools spreading the aluminun edges of the filter or lens to bend it back into shape to remove the filter or to re-establish the groves of the filter threads. This tool is powder coated and immediately even with the most gentle touch statred to loose paint upon contact withe the filter. It is unavoidable. This spreader tool has the filter threads that re-establish this on the lens or filter which some do not. I do-not recommend getting spreaders without threads as they will damage the exitsing threads when used and you will not easily be able to put a filter back on or add additional ones to the exiting filter. Best technique is a slow one applying force then rotating the spreader to a different position to coax it slowly. Attempting to apply alot of force in one spot will warp the aluminum and probably not result in a uniform circle which is what you need to take the filter on and off. Took me about a half hour of opening and closing and rotating the device to be able to remove the filter but it worked. Worth every penny as it can be used over and over. Don't overtighten the device as it may become damaged. Hope this review was helpful.

Neewer has done it again! I repair all types of vintage optical apparatus and these tools are prefect for me. Previously, to get this kind of tool with this high quality you'd have to hire a machinist or make them yourself. These are made in China and if this is how they machine and anodized parts, they deserve the mantle of the manufacturing leader they have become. It used to be USA and post war Japan. I will no longer turn up my nose to the label "made in China" after using the tools they produce. These are worth the price of admission.

Está bien, el único problema que el plano es demasiado ancho, y en ocasiones es difícil de quitar la lente o imposible

I had a lens with a fairly decent dent in the filter ring and threads meaning I couldn't use my filters or the lens cap. Last week I ordered this Lens vice which arrived the next day. It is fairly heavy and very well made so here goes. First I cleaned the lens threads with a brush and cloth and gave it a final clean with Isopropyl alcohol. I then put a very small pinhead sized blob of grease on the thread where the dent was and another opposite so the tool ran smoothly. I first used the small side of the tool and fitted it to the lens just outside the damaged area then turned the thread on the vice until it is a close fit. Then I turned the vice clockwise towards the dent so it just touched the edge of the dent. Next I turned the vice thread a bit tighter so it moved the damage a tiny amount.. I repeated this process on the opposite side of the dent, nice and steady. I kept doing this several times until the larger side of the vice would just fit inside the thread of the lens making sure the thread of the vice and lens are inline with each other. Now I tightened the vice a bit at a time and move the vice clockwise and anti clockwise until it ran smoothly around the whole of the lens and the dent had gone. I cleaned up the lens and carefully wiped it with Alcohol again then tried a filter and found it fitted on first time and turned round as smooth as silk. Beautiful. Get yourself one. This was purchased as a last ditch effort to fix a dented vintage alpex 200mm f3.5, and damn was it a good purchase. I had almost given up on the ability to ever attach threaded filters to this otherwise functional lense, but this tool managed to round the dent back to the correct curvature AND recut the threads smoothly. Highly recommend this purchase if you have lenses with dented metal threads. This could be the tool to give those lenses a second lease on life!

I bought a used Canon wide angle lens used from a person, and haggled the price down due to the lens thread being dinged. Was able to ask for a $100 discount as I noted how important it was that I was able to screw on a protective UV filter, and polarizers to the lens. When I bought this, the repair tool was under $40 and that was a savings of $60 dollars for me.Before you do use the tool, ensure you know how other people suggest to use it (perhaps watch a video on YT about it).The build is very solid, made of metal as it was quite heavy for its size.Would recommend to anyone who has dinged camera lens threads.

I bought these after watching Adam Savages YouTube channel video on lens repair. I have two Mamiya lenses that both had been dropped or hit in their prior lives in a studio. I didn't realize this until I tried to screw on a circular polarizer and my Cokin filter ring for color filters. The product is very solid and well made. It came nicely packaged. I rewatched the video a few times to be sure I had the technique correct. I have a small metal hammer from another project, clamped the vice as shown in the video and started with some very light taps. I repeated this as many times as necessary until both the circular polarizer and filter ring screwed on properly. Needless to say I was very apprehensive about doing this and took my time, especially starting with light taps of the hammer and frequent checks. All in all this is a good tool to use for repairing filter threads on the ends of lenses that have been dropped or bent somehow. Nice and solid.
