This is the lens you are looking for. If you film skateboarding or any other action sport that requires close up shots. The lens was recognized by my hero 12 and the max lens mod was activated automatically. Lens switches on and off with ease. Neewer has been awesome with lots of their optics and this lens is no exception. Got the price and the quality

Reçu ce matin avec un jour de retard mais ce n’est pas grave.Le plus grave c’est que cet objectif est très difficile à placer sur ma gopro 11 et lorsqu’il est placé j ai peur de casser la caméra tellement c’est dur à enlever .Sur la description dans le petit livre qui est joint à l objectif il est dit que l on peut filmer en 4 K mais en réalité on ne peut que filmer en 2.7 K En conclusion je suis déçu de mon achat.Pouvez-vous me dire si cela est normal que lorsque je mets l objectif sur ma gopro 11 on sent qu il n’est pas bloqué car il bouge un peu et j ai peur que cela n influe sur l étanchéité.Pouvez vous me répondre SVP car on arrive en hiver et j ai peur que ma gopro ne s’abîme avec l eau et si cela ne risque rien je passerais de 1 étoile à 4 étoiles Merci

A quick note that this lens works quite well with the hero10 in max lens mode. Capturing anything while whitewater rafting is tricky. I dislike putting up a mast -- it's a hassle, conspicuous, and the footage looks like a bad video game -- so I go with a kind of chest mount on my life jacket. It gives a first person view and captures the experience, although not all the footage is usable if you're paddling. I got far better footage with this lens than with the stock lens. I recommend it.

まず、2.4Kでしか撮影できない。そこは、まぁよしとします。両サイドがかなり湾曲します。なので、純粋に広角になるわけではありません。まぁ、GoProのレンズ自体が小さいのでしょうがないですね。ノーマルレンズでもギリ湾曲っぽいので。それを逆手に取ってライブ感と言うか、エフェクトとして捉える、開き直るとも言いますが^ ^そんな感じです。と言う、個人の感想です。

I picked this 170 degree lens up to be used for skiing and some hiking shots in the summer and I have already been quite impressed with both the video quality and the build quality.This lens comes in a sturdy package that doubles as a padded storage case. The actual lens feels heavy and strong in the hand. It's brushed black colour also makes it look very sharp. The lens twists and snaps onto the GoPro frame very easy and locks on securely. It's very fast to install and remove as needed too.Now onto the video quality. This lens causes no distortion or a decrease in quality whatsoever. It adds a very unique video capture that is extremely wide. It can look a little fish eye towards the border of the video. Also, the image stability doesn't seem to do a great job with the extra view. I've noticed it can look a little shaky when skiing.The downside of something like this is the lens is thick and has quite a big exposed curve to it. You have to take great care when using it not to scratch or drop your GoPro. I'd use this skiing but definitely not biking. It also makes the camera noticeably heavier. You'll feel the difference if it's strapped to your helmet.I think this lens shines for nature, outdoor vistas and adventure vlog filming. For actions sports you will notice some shakes and the added weight. The price tag also makes you want to baby this a bit more than you ought to. Great product

Its a wide angle lens specially designed to snap directly onto the GoPro optics system in a rotating motion drastically widening field of view to nearly 170 degrees for capturing fast action sports or even vlogs in full perspective.Optics are precision aligned to redirect light rays into the Hero Gen 9 to Gen 12 sensors minimizing reflections, sun glow, and aliasing. Despite this, since this lens is nearly 170 degree FOV it does warp edges decreasing sharpness primarily on sides vignetting causing focal fish eye effect. Adjusting settings to Narrow or SuperView modes does counter it making filming particularly in high FPS or motion scenes quite crisp across the dynamic range.The lens feels hefty for its relatively compact size and solidly made out of a crafted aluminum shell using multi layered glass elements. On its inside, the lens mount relies on rubber gasket and metal alignment bars that fits right on top seamlessly. Couple limitations do exist of having curved top lens element particularly sticking outwards from the GoPro reduces compatibility and is prone to getting scratched rather easily from being bumped into.Carrying case does add a nice touch of portability being shaped around the wide angle lens protecting both outer & inner glass during travel. Its rubber silicon which attracts dust onto its case outside but cleanly padded around glass inside for shock absorption.With that considered, its a solid ultrawide angle 170 degree FOV lens enabling filming wider scenes yet mounts firmly even under constant motion of running and getting creative camera angles outdoors. Its specially designed for the Gen 9 and up series of action camera optics since it requires modifying settings to adjust edge distortions but crisply increases vision.

Only utilizes about half of the GoPro Image sensor -ANY of the wide angle lenses by GoPro are a much better alternative, even at a higher price.I returned this and bought both the 155 degree and 177 degree wide angle lenses from GoPro.Much better resolution.

I think the 170 degrees advertised is corner to corner, not horizontal. I swapped between this and the Max Lens Mod (without the special mode, so the lens projects onto a visible circular image on the sensor) and it seemed to produce the same image between the two lenses.Perfect condition used Max Lens Mods can be found for the same price as this new, so I'd only get this if it's cheaper. Otherwise would get the GoPro brand lens.
