After my platycerium bifurcatum (staghorn fern) matured enough to mount using teak wood, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Teak is not only durable, but mold resistant and adds a beautiful, natural aesthetic that complements the plant perfectly.I chose to use unfinished teak for this DIY project, which allowed me to customize the finish to my liking. I applied Danish oil to enhance the wood's natural grain and provide some protection against moisture. The application was straightforward, and the oil brought out the rich tones of the teak, making it even more visually appealing.The mounting process was simple, and the sturdiness of the teak gives me confidence that my staghorn fern will thrive. I appreciate that teak is resistant to rot, which is essential for maintaining a healthy environment for my plant.Overall, I highly recommend using unfinished teak for mounting my platycerium bifurcatum. Teak is a fantastic material that not only looks great but also supports the long-term health of the plant. A perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics!

Teak wood slices are hard to find in this size.Sanding it down and clear coating brings out the beauty.I use mine as a potted plant coaster.Wish they weren't out of stock.

Looks nothing like any of the pictures. Pictures look semi sanded and smoothish. My piece was / is stained with something that is not a stain and sharp (splinters on every edge- many many many of them)Would not buy again.
