This lock was very easy to install, very sturdy and easy to lock. For the longest while we were planning to get an extra lock for more security, but did not know which one to get and choosing this lock it was money well spent. And when tried to open the door with the lock installed, we also noticed that it is not easily broken, and it would be very difficult for someone to enter. This product is amazing and we are very pleased.

Got this for my home as an alternative to the usual chains that light weight and are very easy to break with a good push on the door.

We wanted a little more security for our bedroom door and after researching - we decided to buy this. It came one time and was packaged well. It was easy to install. Just line it up on the door and trim, mark your holes with a pen and pre drill the holes. Then install the lock on the trim side first and then line up the ball part on your door. Only mark two of those holes as you may need a little wiggle room for all of the screws. I do agree that if your trim is really thick - that it won't work so well for you. My trim is only a little thicker than the door when it is closed, so this worked out well. Very sturdy lock and was easy to install. I think it took about ten minutes total. Now we sleep with better piece of mind. If someone does try to open your door with this guard on the locked position - it makes a very loud noise. It will wake you up. The door only opens around an inch if it is pushed to the farthest point of the guard. We tested it over and over and feel more secure with it in place. I am considering buying more of these for the other bedrooms in our house. The color of the guard is true to the picture. I thought I would hate the look of it on my wood trim, but it looks nice actually. I am happy with this purchase.

My kids started rushing out of the house every time they wanted and therefore we needed a mechanism that would prevent this. This item ended up being a decent solution. It is of decent quality and looks stylish on the door. Installation is relatively easy if you have a drill-screw driver type thing (You can install manually but especially the 3 screws penetrating the frame are pretty long and you need a lot of muscle power and time to make them get in. Drill-screw drivers make it easy.) The latch moves 180 degrees freely and it holds the ball decently. You need to adjust the two pieces properly but that is not very difficult either since it does not need to be hundred percent accurate, (just make sure you try it before screwing it in)Apart from it, looking and functioning OK, I also like the fact that they used very high quality screws. Normally, regular screws get striped very easily when you use electrical drill-screw drivers and that causes a big problem when it comes to removing it. These screws are totally outstanding. Non of them got striped and not even showing any signs of that.I think that is a decent product that offers added security to your house.

I read several of the reviews and was kind of worried it wasn't going to work for me.I have a little bit of a gap and a little bit of a height difference between my door and the molding.First impressions, an attractive, heavy duty piece of hardware.2 screws that tap into your door and 4 that tap into your doorframe. One of the 4 screws that went into my doorframe when right in the gap between the frame of the house and the doorframe but it was the only position I could mount it and make it work with the height difference. No real instructions but they do list the size to pre-drill on the package which is the only thing you really need to know.Pre-drilled my holes, secured it, and now I have a lock my little guy cannot reach and the house is secure.I accidently locked the door one day before the wife got home and she put the lock to the test when she got there.Held the door shut without any issues.Would I trust it as much as a deadbolt for strength? No, but as a deterrent it works really well.Definitely worth the money to help secure the house from my adventuresome toddler.

I just finished installing this in an apartment that has a thick metal door. The door frame is slightly higher than the door itself but it had no negative bearing on the installation. I know some reviewers mentioned this will not work if not installed on a flat surface but I had no issue since the difference in height was approximately 3/16 inch. The guard is very solid, looks nice in brass finish and the included screws appear strong enough to withstand everyday use. The problem I had with the instructions is that it states the two pieces must be 13/16 inch away for a proper fit. However, when I finished and tried to open the door, the metal ball would lodge itself with the latch too early resulting in the door only opening like 2-3 inches. As a result, I had to redo the installation but only from the metal ball side not the frame latch side. After a little trial and error I discovered that the proper distance between the two pieces was 3/8 inches NOT 13/16 as the instructions erroneously stated. Once properly installed this set is solid and will provide an extra layer of security. Now I have to patch the extra holes in the door so I dropped one star for the extra work and aggravation of redoing the install.
