I use it to keep my back door closed on the outside. My door opens outward & the door won't stay closed so it's perfect. I jam it under the door while I'm in the backyard & bring it in when I go in.

A number of reviewers have been critical of this device's quality, but it is sufficient materials strength wise if you keep in mind this isn't a side to side door frame anchored security bar. It works well enough to deter break ins while you are inside, as long as you keep a few things in mind. First, no device will absolutely bar entry if the person outside is determined enough and strong enough. The weaknesses of this device are, 1. it may be too short to effectively transfer the pushing force to the floor, 2. the floor pressure pad may slip on slick surfaces. To overcome number one, be sure the distance from the doorknob stem to the floor has to be short enough to leave this device pressing on the floor and under the doorknob at an approximate 60 degree angle. This means it has to be pressed up under the doorknob and the toe end is kicked toward the door - then when force is applied to push the door open, that force is transferred to the floor and it multiplies the resistance to opening.If your doorknob is too high for the bar to be adjusted to the top hole in the lower part of the device it will not hold the door closed. If that is the case, you can apply adhesive stair non slip tread tape to the floor, and then to a 1x6x6 block (apply a sheet of rubber to the bottom of the block), then place the block where the foot is supposed to go on top of the non-slip material, and then apply the device to the underside of the doorknob stem - and set the foot of it on the block wrapped with that non slip stair tread. Once in place this will hold very well. Just remember for less than $20 you are going to have to do something extra for this to work.

Solid rubber door knob fork and solid rubber foot. I tested it on hard wood floors and with the proper angle it worked. I noticed the foot has to be perfectly flat and you need to give it a little push to secure/wedge it in place when you set it up.1 minor improvement- the base tubing could use a plastic ring where the top tube telescopes out, but that did not hinder performance when I tested it.

I received my item on time and I am very pleased with it. It is adjustable and fits snugly against my bedroom door that does not have a lock on it. I live with my nephew and often I am at home alone at night. Although all the house doors are in good condition I am located a good distance from them and I feel more secure knowing there is security where I sleep as well. It only took moments to to put together and fit under my door knob. We tested it out and it is very difficult if not impossible to dislodge. I highly recommend this item and the price was just right.

I had a scare the other day where it sounded like someone was trying to get into my apartment. I decided I needed more than a deadbolt between me and bad people, so I ordered this door guard.It came with “instructions,” but it would have been nice if it came with helpful instructions. I was looking at a steel rod, two black rubber pieces, and a washer. I finally realized there was a second steel rod inside the first. Great. It was a struggle separating the two. I put the washer in one of the rubber pieces, mostly for some place to put it, not because I had a reason.One rod has a little metal push button. You have to push that in to place the end of that rod inside the other, but be careful to put it in line with the holes in the other rod. Then you place the U-shaped piece under the door knob, and adjust the height by pushing the rod so the button goes into the right hole.So which is the right hole? At how much of an angle should I place this? I don’t know. I originally placed the button in the first hole, but that made it seem very weak at the join – it wobbled -- so I moved it to the second hole. I tried pushing on the door to see if it would move, and it didn’t, but I am not very strong normally and currently have a shoulder and leg injury, so I’m not sure what that proved.Am I safer? I hope so. I also hope I never need to find out.

I have ordered so many different door stoppers and had to return them because they did not work at all. When I ordered these and I order four of them. When I put this underneath the door and try to pull on the door, it would not move and I was so excited I laughted. Everyone of them are PERFECT and I would recommend them to the world.
