These are well made hook eyes made of stainless steel. They should hold up very well outside without rusting.

This lag screw eye has such shallow threads, I doubt it is safe for anything critical. Fortunately it is suspending a wind chime of some weight and not someones life. Used Titebond III on the threads, hope the glue holds.
