Fun activity for kids. 9 year old enjoyed it and kept busy for about 30-40 mins. Best to do outside as it can get a bit messy with the digging. We kept a cup of water nearby to wash off the gems. Gems are very small but it was still cool to find them and compare with the booklet.

I got these for my niece because they were on her wish list. This is a fun activity to keep kids (or adults!) busy. It’s a great gift & easy to use - although it can become messy. I highly recommend it.

I got this for my son for Christmas and he loves it! We’ve gotten similar types in the past but we like these better. I was surprised how many rocks are actually in the clay, it was way more than I expected! We had a blast breaking it apart and finding all different types of stones, seemingly more than are listed! Great indoor or outdoor fun!

Purchased for grandchildren 6 and 8. Fun activity while searching for gems. Durable, great variety of stones, great color, easy to assemble. We worked outside so there was no noise issue while banging the form apart. Fun. Recommend.

Grandkids loved it. I purchased two for grandkids living at different location. One was completed outside and the other inside. You definately need plastic or newspaper (which is a thing of the past for young adults), along with a spare container with some water to put rocks in when they find the rocks. Paper towels are also needed. Of course it's a bit messy as expected but they loved finding them.

The NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Mega Gemstone Dig Kit is a fantastic way to spark curiosity and a love for geology in children. The kit comes with everything you need to dig up 15 real gemstones and crystals, offering hours of engaging, hands-on activity. The excitement of discovering each gem feels like a mini treasure hunt, and the included learning guide provides detailed information about each stone, making the experience both fun and educational. One thing to note is that the digging process can get a bit messy, so it’s best done on a surface you don’t mind cleaning (or a cardboards) . It’s also a bit challenging for younger children, requiring patience and some parental guidance to help with tools and techniques. But this makes it a great bonding activity for parents and kids to enjoy together.PROS: Includes 15 real gemstones and crystals for a fun treasure hunt experience. Educational learning guide provides fascinating facts about each gem. Encourages hands-on learning and an interest in geology. Great for developing patience and fine motor skills. Fun activity to share between parents and kids.CONS: Digging process can be messy—prepare a workspace accordingly. Younger children may find it difficult to use the tools and require adult assistance. The digging process may take time, which could challenge kids with shorter attention spans.

We had a lot of fun doing this kit with our kids. The gems and crystals are beautiful and make for a nice collection. It comes with a book to learn about each one, which is awesome. If you’re looking for a fun and educational activity to do with your kids, this is the way to go.

Déception au déballage.... la roche à casser pourrait au moins remplir le carton intérieur. Quand aux outils, n'en parlons pas.. De la cacaille. Je ne suis pas prête de racheter National Géographic... Mensonger.
