I used these to replace plastic hangers that became brittle and broke often. These work well with gutter guards that screw onto the gutter. I spaced them about 20 inches apart. By slightly loosening a screw where I wished to place the hanger, I was able to slip the hanger under the guard. Then retightened the screw and the hanger was held tightly in place. I leave some lights up all year. I expect these to last well.

We bought these for our gutters, that have a Leaf Filter screen. They insert fine, but once you hang the Christmas lights, the weight pulls the hanger sideways & lights fall off. No way to anchor it down inside the gutter with the screen on. Don't waste your money.

These hooks are the best we have found for use with gutter guards. They stay put and don’t get brittle after use in cold climates like plastic hooks do.

I do not have any gutter guards so these did not stay very well hanging from my gutter as is, until I took a pair of pliers to bend the two main arms so that the longer arm forms a slight acute angle with the rest of the hook (see photo). Once they were bent into this shape, they lock over the edge of the gutter and are very sturdy for hanging Christmas lights.

These clips where used to hang Xmas lights and this is a better idea instead of using clips that stick to the side of the gutter. They are very good in holding the lights in a strong wind.
