IF offered as a substitute for no-longer-available very-similar Black & Decker string-trimmer (as I was), be aware that battery-connection is different-design, charger-connection is different-design, and string-cartridges are different and TINY, and NONE COMPATIBLE with B&D trimmers. In it's own right, this is a great device at a great price, suffering from a single near-fatal flaw. Adjustabe-length. Adjustable-degree sturdy-head, Handy adjustable-handle. Very light-weight. Single battery seems powerful (but not yet fully tested). But the cartridges are TINY with SMALL CAPACITY, and will require frequent spool changes. Has stereotypical cheap-razor, expensive-blades issues. Replacement cartridges NOT inexpensive. Additional battery EXPENSIVE. Fully OK for what it is, but exercise care.

Just got this, and it assembled easily and is very easy to use without even reading the manual. I saw what appears to be a newer model (but without actual guide wheel for edging and different spool design). I was concerned with the availability of getting new spools in the future and inquired. But was directed by MZK support to the "newer" designed spool...which clearly won't fit. Searching, I couldn't find any compatible/generic ones online, so I unraveled one spool and saw that it is quite easy to wind a new ~10ft length string using 0.065", if I ever run out. Easy enough DIY solution.Also, the product ad picture shows a battery charging caddy...nope, you won't get that, but just a plug-in adapter/cable that you plug into the top of the actual battery.No big deal...I have an MZK electric pruner with 7' extension kit with the same battery and charger cord. So all is good. Other than that, MZK products are solid unit tools.

I imagine this won't be a good solution for someone who does regular lawn work. But for me who only goes out every so often, it handles the job well.

I was originally very angry when I got this because as other reviewers have mentioned the string seemed to be snapping almost immediately when the motor reached speed. I decided to try a heavier duty universal line to see if that made a difference — same problem. I was about to send the thing back before my father asked to take a look at it. Lo and behold, all of the spooling arrived wound backwards. After rewinding the string in the proper direction, this thing runs perfectly. I love how lightweight it is, I found the battery to charge quickly, and it easily tackles my small (but very weedy) lawn. For such a low price, I don’t think this thing can be beat. Just remember to check your spool line if it seems junky.

Out of the box and battery charged the product looked solid. After attempting to use it proved the string in the trimmer failed after only a few inches of light use. At one point the string broke as the trimmer spun up to speed. Second spool proved to behave the same. I will look to reload the spools with new string and see if the transportation/age/or something else just degraded the string. Kinda a bummer as the rest of the trimmer looked and felt well-built. Will look to re-review after trying new string.
