My five year old just started this journal a couple of weeks ago and she's super into it. I think it's a great habit to practice, not in a secret diary type of way but more like a reflection to share of how things are going and what can be improved. I'm doing the adult version right along side her. I feel it is helpful to me as well. I recommend anyone giving one of these journals a shot. But especially a kiddo who is setting up healthy (possibly lifelong) habits.

I got this as a fun activity for my son to do with us each night. We love it! It's easy enough to complete in less than 15 mins but open enough to stretch it to 45 mins. I do the writing, asking questions and he enjoys talking about his day. It's always interesting to hear what's memorable for him.

5yo who is learning how to identify and regulate emotions. This journal is engaging. A grown-up and teenager can assist. It helped my child remember events. Something happens and we move forward w/ our day. This journal helps us reflect on the events and the emotions attached to it. Each page asksโ€™โ€ what good thing happened todayโ€ and we make a short list. Sometimes itโ€™s just one sentence. Towards the bottom of the page are a set of creatures illustrating an emotion: happy, calm, anxious, sad, angry( not in those order) I believe it asks the author to circle the creature they relate the most. But We go over each emotion and pinpoint what situation , if any, occurred. It can take 10 ,30, or 45 minutes to complete a page. The book is lightweight; the cover is soft though I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s water resilient(not purposely going to test it either) ; the page sheets arenโ€™t thin like moleskine ( sorry, if stationary experts find this not useful ), and so far, the markers used didnโ€™t bleed through- Crayola markers and sharpie fine point pens.

Cute journal. We've used it a couple times so far to end our day. My 4 year old likes it. The cover is a weird material I don't really like but all in all it's a good purchase.

I was nervous about introducing journaling to my 5 year old step-sonโ€™s night time routine, but he took to it right away. He loves the one-on-one time he gets with whichever parent has the book that night, and he quickly became more articulate about expressing his feelings and recognizing the passage of time. Itโ€™s something consistent between our house and momโ€™s, which is making the weekly transition easier on everyone involved. His behavior has gotten a lot better, too, because he has a record of his week to look back on, and heโ€™s finding pride in his accomplishments. Itโ€™s also helping his handwriting and spelling skills, as we insist he be the one to write out the entries (we generally stick to one sentence). His kindergarten teacher has noticed a sudden massive improvement in all those things in class, too, which is really gratifying. Iโ€™m so proud of the little guy.

Very cute journal, nice routine way to reconnect at the end of the day, and a good way for my child to discuss his emotions (he's 3). He circles the emotions and says if he felt it a little or a lot, and we make a correspondingly big or small circle. The beginning pages can be fun, but skip right to the journal and if they're still into it, then you can do the coloring and other pages- but like skim through first, you don't want to overwhelm them right at the outset.

A friend recommended this, and at first I was hesitant because of the price. I almost thought I'd just find or make an alternative but I'm glad I didn't. It's not only really nice quality but my 6 yo son loves it. He's been struggling explaining his emotions and tells me he is sad, with no reason why. This has helped him explain to me why, and also find the good in each day. He loves doing this before bedtime and I don't even have to ask him to do it now, he initiates it himself. There are lots of prompts, positive quotes, and fun monsters to color so it doesn't feel like work. Bonus points that it's great writing and spelling practice for him

My daughter and I are enjoying filling out this journal together. I keep forgetting to have her do it on โ€œbadโ€ days, but hope to get better at keeping up with it!
