Excellent motherboard! Paired this with a Ryzen 7 9700X and Gskill 32gb DDR5 ram and worked right out of the box. No Bios update needed. Upon installing windows, drivers were installed and speeds are fast and stable after enabling EXPO. Highly recommend for people considering a DDR5 ATX motherboard!

I recently upgraded to the MSI X870 Tomahawk motherboard and I'm really impressed. The power delivery and cooling system are top-notch, with extended heatsinks and quality thermal pads that keep everything stable even during heavy gaming or multitasking.I picked the X870 Tomahawk because it has a great reputation and got excellent reviews. It offered the right mix of performance, build quality, and features at a price that made sense. This motherboard has definitely met my needs and even surpassed my expectations. The BIOS is easy to use, and it handles overclocking really well. I've pushed my CPU and RAM further than I expected. Some of the main strengths are its strong power delivery system, lots of connectivity options, and solid build. I love having multiple M.2 slots and USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. The only minor issue I’ve noticed is that the placement of some SATA ports can be a bit tight if you're using larger GPUs.Overall, the MSI X870 Tomahawk is a fantastic choice if you're building or upgrading your PC. It delivers great performance and reliability, and I highly recommend it.

The MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI is a seriously impressive motherboard that strikes a great balance between high-performance capabilities and user-friendly design. Built for the latest AMD Ryzen 9000/8000/7000 Series processors on the AM5 socket, this board is clearly aiming for enthusiasts and gamers who demand the best.Performance and Power:The standout feature here is undoubtedly the robust power delivery system. A 17-phase (14+2+1) Duet Rail Power System with 80A Smart Power Stages, coupled with an Extended Heatsink, ensures that even the most demanding Ryzen processors can reach their peak potential without thermal throttling. This is crucial for sustained gaming sessions and intensive workloads. The support for blazing-fast 7800 MHz DDR5 RAM further cements this motherboard’s performance pedigree.User-Friendly Design:MSI has clearly put effort into making this board easy to work with, embracing their “EZ DIY” philosophy. Features that streamline the installation of graphics cards, M.2 SSDs, and other components make the build process smoother, even for first-time builders. The M.2 heatsinks, included Wi-Fi antennae, and other small details make assembly less stressful.Connectivity and Networking:The MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI doesn’t skimp on connectivity. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 7 provides the latest in wireless speeds and low latency, while the 5G LAN port offers similarly rapid wired networking. The abundance of USB ports, including 9 Type-A and 3 Type-C on the rear I/O, is welcome. But the real gem is the front USB Type-C header with 27W power delivery, eliminating the need to constantly hunt for a wall charger for your devices.Aesthetics:The board’s understated black design is undeniably sleek and will fit seamlessly into almost any PC build, ensuring a clean and professional look.Pros:Robust 17-phase power delivery system for maximum Ryzen processor performance.Excellent thermal management with an extended heatsink.Supports lightning-fast 7800 MHz DDR5 RAM.User-friendly “EZ DIY” design elements for easy installation.Cutting-edge connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G LAN.Plenty of USB ports, including front USB Type-C with 27W charging.Sleek, understated black design.Cons:Potentially on the higher end of the price spectrum (although the provided information does not cover price) && if you have two DDR5 RAM, you must insert them into slot 2 and 4 to make it work.Overall:The MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI is a fantastic motherboard that delivers on its promises of high performance, excellent connectivity, and user-friendly design. Whether you’re a hardcore gamer, a content creator, or just an enthusiast looking for a reliable platform for your new AMD Ryzen processor, this motherboard is a worthy investment. Its robust power delivery, blazing-fast speeds, and convenient features make it a top contender in the AM5 motherboard market. Highly recommended.

UPDATE: I ended up sending a ticket to MSI to see if they could fix the WiFi issue, after some back and forth, their solution was to buy a WiFi extended. The "fix" comes after them knowing my computer is less than 20 feet from the router. I returned it after that message and bought a Gigabyte x870 Elite WiFi 7. Haven't had a single issue with it since. Used to use MSI but after that motherboard I'll be returning to other brands that don't sell garbage.Where to start, I have built multiple computers and for the most part, don't have many issues. However, with this motherboard it has been nothing BUT issues. I was drawn towards this one because of its high reviews and MSI generally has a good name. However, I cannot recommend this motherboard any less. To begin off, this motherboard takes on average 1 minute to boot past the MSI logo. This is with OC RAM, some people have had better luck with out of the box RAM. This product should truthfully be labeled as "beta testing" and should not have a price tag of 300 dollars.Currently experienced bugs/issues:-EZ Debug constantly showing code 08 - "System Agent initialization after microcode loading" from MSI forums, this is a known issue that can only be solved by downloading a beta version BIOS update. Which one user stated that they lost all USB 2.0 connections after installing this-Motherboard does not detect some RGB components after waking up from a sleep mode. For instance the fans will still function normally but the LED's will not come back on. OpenRGB will not detect the components after the computer has been woken up from sleep. To fix this issue, you must restart the computer and make sure it doesn't go to sleep.-WiFi, it claims "WiFi 7 has ultimate low latency" I just upgraded this motherboard and now I am getting consistent packet drops, nearly every 2 - 3 minutes the ping will spike to 2000+ then immediately drop down to 20-40. Not sure if this is a hardware issue or a driver issue, doesn't matter either way. Having a disconnection like this is very disruptive for gaming. I have not been able to try ethernet cable, so I can't say if that does or does not work.-When this board comes in, it does not come with the wifi drivers, therefore you must already have a device that can download the driver then transfer it to a usb driver to install-Over 1 minute boot up times from the press of the power button-MSI bloatware known as MSI center, also it will try and install Norton Antivirus - another baffling decision from MSI-The wifi connection is not the industry standard RP-SMA, female to male connection. It is a plug-in type with the option to install adapters. If you want to use a wifi antenna that isn't the one that comes in a box, you will need to buy adapters. Most aftermarket on amazon use the RP-SMA female to male.In the box with the motherboard there is an incentive to review this motherboard, that is probably why there are so many 5 star reviews. This is in no way a good gaming motherboard, maybe I just got a bad board, but with all the issues above, I will be promptly returning this and buying something that doesn't make me feel like I work at a QA department. I did not buy a motherboard so I could tinker with the BIOS settings and installing/repairing drivers.
