When I purchased this distributor, I was not able to get the vehicle to the repair shop right away. There was no need to hurry because my old distributor works fine. However, after a few days of meandering I did manage to get it to my mechanic. After many failed attempts, of trying to get this new distributor to work my mechanic was left with one option, pull out the new distributor and reinstall the old working distributor. This is a good chunk of money for something that doesn't work. I am sending it back for my return.

Installed this into a SBC that has no major mods done to it. When I tried to set initial + mechanical the timing became erratic - jumped all over. Determined it wasn't my timing light and when I drove it, it just quit pulling under acceleration at 3000 RPM and the tach reading became erratic. Went to the MSD forum and did all that they asked to solve it only to get to where finally they asked me to send it back. I did and they replaced the circuit board. Got it back and it did the exact same thing. Note that I installed another HEI diz that didn't have enough mechanical (the whole reason I wanted this one) and it would work perfectly. So I get the "repaired" 8365 back, it does the same thing. I find out you can change out the MSD circuit card and use normal GM circuits. So I took the circuit card out of the HEI that worked perfectly and replaced the MSD card. It worked. But $350 bucks bought me nothing but the mechanical ability to change the mechanical advance and I could have done that for a lot less money!! The circuit board in the 8365 was the version 7 board.3 months later - MSD requested I send back this diz for a second time. One month later after sending it back and two requests for information I still know nothing. Wow.
