Bought to compare oil filter elements of brand filters that I have purchased and may purchase. It works great and easy to check the debris being filtered out of the engine. Easy to use and has not failed me yet.

Bought this so I can start monitoring my engine internals more closely. I saw it was adjustable for multiple oil filter sizes, so I ordered it. Works great for a “standard” engine oil filter. However, I replaced the fluid and filter(s) on my trucks transmission. (Ram 1500 w/ 65RFE) The cutter adjustment holes are JUST outside the applicable size needed, and doesn’t tighten/shrink enough to fit a standard Chrysler transmission spin-on filter.I had to “roll on” painters tape on the 2 roller bearings to increase the diameter of the bearings so the cutter wheel would actually reach/cut the smaller filter.Other than that, it’s a great cutter! Very sharp blade and even comes with a spare. I’ve open up 6 filters so far. (Personal and a few of my friends cars). Still sharp and no blade damage. Just wish the adjustment rod would tighten up about 3/4” more, and/or the prefilled adjustment holes had a third row option for smaller filters.

Have not used this cutter yet, but have found it to be well made. It should do the job just fine.

First let me start by saying, I am not a mechanic. I never saw myself wanting an oil filter cutting tool. I’m finally doing my own oil changes for my wife’s car, as well as mine. Hyundai Elantra and KIA forte. I’m going everything in my power to keep up with mtc. and just baby these cars as best we can. Fortunately, our engines aren’t on the recall list and non-GDI. I’m running Valvoline Restore and protect in both cars and was concerned the first few changes might overwhelm the filter since it removes carbon and sludge so effectively, I didn’t want to end up with clogged filters. This tool worked great. I had a damaged filter so when I first got it i tried it on that first, and it scores its way through the metal pretty easily. Just keep tightening little by little after a couple turns. Highly recommend!

I've wanted to get one of these for awhile now and with having multiple modified cars and trucks I figured this would give me a piece of mind that everything's doing OK inside the engine. I saw this one and ordered it over the others since it came with an extra cutting wheel. I didn't expect much at the price point but I was pleasantly surprised when I received the oil filter opener.I'm a machinist by trade and tend to judge things on the quality machined, fit & finish regardless of what it is & I expected this to be raw stock edges and maybe be machined where it needed to be so it could function properly. To my surprise everything is machined very nicely, fit and finish is great and all the hardware is stainless steel except for the threaded rod that controls the cutter wheel (which that should be regular steel like it is for tinsel strength) even the main body of this is fully machined with all the edges nicely chamfered. The knurled handle is nicely done and provides plenty of grip. The cutter wheel cuts with ease and seems to be heat treated properly. If you have ever used a tubing cutter before you know you can't just ram it home and be done, obviously the same rules apply and you slowly move the wheel in as you spin it around several times.If you're debating on whether or not to buy this, just buy it, you won't regret it!

Today, as a test, I opened 2 old discarded oil filters. (photo) Smooth operation, smooth cuts.Pros:Quality Feel, good thread pitch.The handle has gnarled cut.Extra cutter bladeComes with the tools needed to adjust for larger dia filter.They work with aircraft engine oil filters, too. U will need a vise to hold the filter. Not so sharp wheel blade but ok for home/personal use
