I build a lot of my own frames for my paintings and other craft projects that require a perfect square or rectangle. This particular framing square is just as well built and as accurate as the more expensive brands. I frequently need perfect 45 and/or 90 degree angles and it’s important that each side be level to create a quality frame. This particular framing square gets the job done and is an important addition to my home crafting tools.

the rule and square seem OK but the clamp doesn't hold the rule in place so its really easy to knock the thing out of measurement. personally i wouldn't use it for anything critical, but even for carpentry or light duty stuff its no good if its not able to work as intended.

Overall the tool is built quite well, except for one flaw that might be a dealbreaker for some. The mechanism that slides through the recess in the ruler, allowing the square to be adjustable, is made of brass and will wear over time. This will end up in the 90 degree angle between the ruler and the square to not be accurate anymore. In about a month of using mine, I found that it was off by about 1-2 degrees.

You know what, it's a combination square. It's great. But the best part and only thing you need to understand is that it comes with a mustache. Not just any mustache, but a distinguished mustache. And a handwritten printed note saying how awesome you are for buying their tool! Now onto the actual review! Mr. Pen combination square has one side dedicated to just inches, 12. And the other side has inches and cm for those who want to use the metric sytem.Accuracy is as good as my tape measure. Measures the same, straight edge. The ruler itself is a straight edge, it might have some burrs on it from the factory though so I'd suggest hitting it with some sandpaper just to soften it up. I personally hit mine with a piece of 80 grit real quick, 1 pass down each side and it's smooth as silk.Ease of use is just that. It's not hard to use at all. To readjust the length of the straight edge, just looked the thumb wheel and slide to where you need it to be, tighten it back up and there you go.The size is a standard 12 inch combo square, you can get smaller ones but this is the normal size for them. It'll still fit in your tool bag and not take up too much space on your tool wall.Well have you ever needed a straight edge but couldn't find your rafter square or L Square? Well this got you. It functions as both of those. It'll give you a 90° angle, 45° angle and I'm sure it can give you other angles as well. I'm personally not using it for that, i have a tool for that already 🤣Well I hope this helped you decide that Mr. Pen is awesome and I'm not being paid to say these things, but they sent me a mustache and I even get a free gift of sorts whenever I decide to sign up for it. So Mr. Pen is great and you should buy their stuff.

I've always used a fixed right angle for my projects, For experienced carpenters I'm sure that's nuts but once I started using this, I can sacrifice my fixed tools for a cheap price.

For the price you cant go wrong. Its great if you just need it for the occasional wood working. It may not be 100% perfect. But From some of these reviews it sounds like people that wanted to cheap out on their daily wood working and pay next to nothing for a tool they plan to use daily... That goes for any tool. If you rarely need it, then sure go for cheap. But if its going to be a tool of your trade, used daily, then put in the money for some quality, long lasting tools.. Only thing i can say is the ruler part seemed a little bit warped, so it didnt lay perfectly flat, and could have used a little pit thicker metal for it. But it works and does what i need it to. And cost just about nothing.
