My ford explorer XLT 2013 needed a new engine air filter with part FA1884 and I ordered an off-brand one because it was cheaper. I regretted it. It did not fit, rubber was too tall so the two hooks wouldn't clasp and I couldn't return it because it got stained and greasy, extremely unfortunate. I decided to order this Ford Motorcraft OEM version and it was a great fit. Super easy to change in and out. The back hook took some elbow grease to clasp but it eventually closed. Now, I know to only buy OEM versions and don't cheap out or else I'll just waste more money!!!

Excellent OEM replacement filter. Identical to the Motorcraft filter it replaced. Stamped "Made in USA" which is a pleasant surprise. Good build quality. These filters are possibly made by the same company who makes Purolator, but to Ford's specs, however I cannot confirm that. No issues. This has a snug fit in the air intake housing. Some users have reported issues with the outer trim being too thick to fit, and I can see why. It takes a little finesse to install. When you place the filter in the housing, be sure to firmly press down on all four corners as well as along the sides to insure the filter is fully seated. Then line up the tabs on the housing perfectly (they shouldn't be off center). You should be able to slide the top housing along the filter as the tabs get inserted, this will take some effort to do. Once the housing tabs are fully inserted, you should be able to lock the clips on the other end. Gotta hold your tongue just right. I did not need to do further disassembly aside from opening up the air filter housing. This is speaking from my experience with a Ford Edge. There are lots of filter options available, but it's typically hard to go wrong with OEM.

What is there to say. This is the OEM replacement air filter for my 2015 Ford Explorer. There are a few things where skimping just doesn’t make sense. Filters aren’t that expensive to begin with, and it’s extremely important to the life of your vehicle that the filters keep debris out while allowing proper flow capacity.

In my experience with cars, there is nothing better than the manufacturer's replacement parts, especially when they are priced right. This product is a GOOD example. It is a great product and fits perfectly. So, if you have a FORD vehicle, I would recommend buying FORD (Motorcraft) replacements IF you can.

Never sure these days if K&N filters oil the mass airflow sensor so bought this to test out theory.Don't mind doing regular changes at this price !!

I used to use cleanable filters like k&n and even dry filters. But after tons of research, I know that the motorcraft flows very well. replace every year and you know that you will get great clean air induction into your engine. Wishing a little cheaper....4 stars

Manufacturer filters are the only way to go these days. Cheap aftermarket options clog up quickly and need to be replaced frequently... your gas mileage will suffer. One word of advice if youre replacing the filter in the winter - make sure the new filter is warm (room temp) before installing. If it’s cold, the rubber rim gets stiff and it’s darn near impossible to lock the top of the filter casing back on over the filter.
