This is a METRIC dovetail cutter, it has a 10mm shank, it will not fit a 3/8 or 7/16 collet. "Approximately 3/8" is technically correct however it is very misleading. You need a 10mm collet to use this cutter.I assumed this was the case but bought it anyway just to see if it was under or oversize and I could use it in my fractional collets, it's not, i ended up buying a cheap 10mm collet for use with it. No complaints I knew what I was getting myself into.Aside from this it's a good dovetail cutter, and is very satisfactory for my shop use.

I dont know who does the measuring when making this but they should be fired! This is not 3/8 at all! Will not fit into 3:8 collet, I had to grind down the diameter because it was .20 over 3/8! Luckily I had the means to shave it down to right diameter. If you need precise 3/8 bits do not buy this, it struggled a little bit in aluminum so wouldn’t try it on steel that’s for sure

First, this tool does not have a 3/8 shank, so you need metric or ER collets to use it properly. Once in the mill, it was apparent that the cutting portion was not ground in alignment with the shank. The cutting portion was wobbling, and only 1/3 the teeth actually did any work. It cut okay, then shattered after a few parts. Dovetail cutters are always delicate, but it should not have broke. Looking at the break, it looks like its not made from high speed steel at all. Overall, terrible product. Ive used cheap tooling before at work and in my shop, but this is junk.

This is not 3/8" it is 100% a metric size. I had to order a metric r8 collect because 2 diff. 3/8" s and a 3/8" end mill holder would not work.
