Mated my old big block buick 455 to a modern 4L80E using a 5/16 adapter plate and these extra long dowel pins. They work great.Tip: if the old dowel pins dont want to move, tack weld an L-shaped metal bar to the end of them and tap them out with a hammer. Easily removed some very stuck pins with this method. Just dont weld for too long, you dont want much heat going into the block... AND make sure the ground clamp is on the scrap metal, not the engine because you dont want electricity to flow through your block.
