Pins must contact material to register a reading
- Stick super-sharp pins into wood and check moisture content.
Please make sure the pins plug as deep as posssible. Two probes, or “pins,” are inserted into the wood, and an electric current flow between the two pins.

It is a bit finicky to use and doesnt always read when theres moisture. I have one without the pins from the same company and it seems more accurate

I was hesitant because I thought it was going to be so complicated and not work. Definitely not the case! It has FOUR buttons- mode (type of surface), flashlight, on/off and hold. I only used it today but I did various testing on things I knew has moisture vs not and it was very accurate! I would say it is a good value for the money and I love that it already comes with a battery (nice perk)! The item seems durable and is very light weight. Definitely recommend!
