As with other reviews, I can see the that someone might confuse the backing as a gasket of some sort.But please don't pass up on these!I have them holding hats, belts and jackets.In one photo, I placed the hook where I had a screw for my hat, thinking I would reinstall the screw...but no need!One hook did come off a highly textured wall...it took the paint with it! I simply reinstalled with one of the supplied screws.

They did not stick to my closet door. Used a couple different ones and hook with hat fell off several times.

Great hooks, perfect length for hanging your cowboy hat, easy to install with a screw or double sided tape, very affordable and of good quality, have not removed them from my wall but should be an easy removal. need to get some more as they are really useful if you own a lot of hats.

Was not sure what to expect but they worked out OK The adhesive are strong enough for my husband cowboy hats.
