Great value. The red on black background makes these calipers easy to read. Good accuracy, within 1 to 2 thou. Zero repeats every time. Works great for jobs with tolerance +- 0.005. Anything less than that you better be using a mic. All in all it gets the job done at a reasonable price.

My nephew has a machine shop and when I needed a new precision measuring instrument I asked him what to get. He told me to get a Mitutoyo TX-6 Dial Caliper, with an easy to read black face. I did and I am very pleased with this tool, it is worth the money and buying the best we can afford is always a good thing when buying tools.

Received dial caliper at 8:00PM but ahead of schedule. Opened box on Kitchen table, and as soon as I removed caliper from sealed package I noticed the lens was cracked and requested a return authorization. Would have ordered another black face caliper but the price went $10.00 up so I ordered the white face caliper. Disturbed that defective product could have shipped from Mitutoyo but I'll try one more time. This time I'll do my best to inspect prior to opening the sealed package.

When I got the first one the dial was cracked, but amazon sent a replacement immediately. If you are a machinist and you don't like digital these calipers are pretty much the standard in the industry. You can go with SPI or Starrett but they are pretty much made overseas anyway and they cost more for the name.

The instrument I received does not appear to be accurate. It is off by 3/1000 of an inch over 3/4". I am measuring using Veritias Setup Blocks. The Mitutoyo gets more off the larger the block I use. I have a very accurate fractional caliper that I am also measuring and it is right-on for all block sizes. Please advise. Thank you.Update: I received a replacement and it is very accurate. I'm satisfied and updating my review to reflect satisfaction with both the service the replaced product I received..

I really like this tool! Very well made, smooth, easy to read dial. I had a caliper with white face and 0.200" per revolution on the dial. the divisions on the dial were too small for these aging eyes. I really prefer having this new one with 0.100" per revolution. This Mitutoyo comes back to zero every time and was right on with 0.032" feeler gauge. I actually have 3 cheaper dial calipers that i will now discard, they aren't anywhere near as reliable as this new one.
