I would of had a harder time installing this had I not researched car groups and found someone who showed exactly where to connect the leads for my car. Other than that super simple to install and works great. Only recommendation is make sure you know how long of a cord you need. I thought 10" would be enough but after I connected it and ran it out to the radar detector is was way short. I repositioned my radar to accommodate and in the end it all ended up being good.Simple easy and makes it all clean and organized, no more wires running to plugs and less attention to having radar in the car. Would recommend.

I was skeptical. I had already purchased the hard-wire kit from the detector maker and was planning to do all the wire routing and make the connections to the fuse panel under the dash... which would require hiring a double jointed Munchkin with a degree in electrical engineering. I saw this wiring kit while purchasing a mounting bracket and purchased it. I thought it was very overpriced for the actual materials included. I figured I already had a plan B, and I could send it back if it didn’t work out. I’m so glad I purchased this power tap kit! Every component worked as it should, the first time. Very clean installation, and it was done in minutes! No stuffing wires around the windshield, no avoiding airbags in the pillar, and no poking around under the dashboard with an electrical tester. If you’ve got power feeding a “smart” mirror, this absolutely the way to power your radar detector! Very pleased I purchased it! Maybe it’s not so overpriced when I consider how much trouble it saved me!

I used this to install an Escort Max360 in a 2018 Mazda 3 with Homelink mirror. After some internet searches and the help of a multimeter to figure out which pin was ground and which was power, the install was fast and straight forward. I ended up using taps of different sizes for ground and power, wouldn't have been able to do that with a cheaper kit and having detachable taps made the install easier. It's a complete kit, taps in 4 sizes, wire with inline fuse, shrink tubing, zip ties, and even a little piece of electrical tape stuck to the plastic bag holding all the taps together. The instructions were clear and complete and had a little section on how to use a multimeter.A very well thought out and complete package. But, it's expensive, granted it feels high quality, but $45 is a lot, I think $35 would be a fair price and $25 would be a great price. Despite that I would still recommend this to anyone in the market for something like this, especially novices who's going to be messing with electrical stuff for the first time.

I had trouble in installing, I got the pins in, but the detector quit when I touched it. I tried again and the same thing happened. I contacted Mirror tap and they sent me new pins very fast. I have contacted a stereo installation person that I have dealt with before and he is going to hook them up for me. He has hooked up this product many times before. I did this as if I did it myself, and it came unhooked, it would be worse than having no radar detector at all, as I could not trust it. The service that I got from Mirror Tap was fantastic. The new pins were here the next day! With no charge. When I get the new pins installed and the radar detector works,as it I know it will, I will give a 5 star rating.

This is a product that can be complex... but the seller and manufacturer are exceptionally helpful. Finding the right product, especially for German cars, is tough. I had a problem with the initial purchase and they handled it immediately... with both an exchange and information to make installation easier.Once in, this looks bespoke and integrated. I’d recommend the kit that doesn’t have the multi-tips. Reach out to the manufacturer and find out which one works for your car. Also, get the longer length, 15”. I only needed 8, but even 10 was too short when it came to installation efforts. The 15” is perfect, even for a super close install.I’ve got a (new) BMW X5 and use an Escort Max. This product did NOT work, but they sent one that did. Again, reach out before buying. They’re super fast with answering questions and choosing the right product for you.

This is a very good product that I’ve ised numerous times in many cars. If the back of your mirror doesn’t have that exposed plug, you’d need to remove the top console to access wiring, not a job for the faint of heart. They provide at least 4 different size wire ends but they are very easy to break if you are not careful. However, they are a great company and extremely responsive to requests for replacement of broken parts. It’s pricey but worth it.
