This was a Christmas gif . My aunt needed a pressure cooker and this was perfect. She said this is just like her old pressure cooker. She was happy with this item!!

This pressure cooker works great, only complaint is the weight causes a rust colored stain around the stream vent, and it started after very first usage. Otherwise i would give this pressure canner 5 stars.Ive had mine for 2 years now and use it alot especially in the summer. In the winter i can meat and sometimes frozen veggies if they are on sale cheap enough. I use as water bath canner too but i use a different lid, to save the gasket life a bit. Love my canner.

I have been canning for many years and have been using the 16 qt Presto brand which has been dependable and performed very well. I would have bought the Presto again but they only offer th dial gauge option, but I prefer the weighted gauge so I reluctantly went with this less expensive, very basic canner. I am super impressed with the performance. I have used it twice since getting it last week. Easy to use, has all the instructions needed, heats quickly, holds heat at steady temp without a lot of adjusting, all jars have sealed and virtually no siphoning (chicken stock). The only issue is that the regulator has to be pushed onto the stem rather forcefully to get it seated properly - two "pops" to the correct position.

I was really impressed with the value for this canner. I have only used it twice now, but it really seems sturdy and gets the job done just like the more expensive models. It doesn't have the pressure reading valve, but you can tell it's up to pressure by the weight, since it steams out a little. The weight doesn't "dance" like some other pressure canners, but I don't mind that. For the value, this is an amazing addition to my kitchen arsenal.

Canners are hard to come by these days, and I originally had my sights set on an All American...I did not know when/if I would be able to get my hands on one, so I bought the 22qt Mirro canner, and then later bought the 16qt. This was my first experience canning, as I was very hesitant because of all the horror stories I've read about. The 22qt has a rack for stacking, but the 16qt does not, however, even the 16qt size can fit 7 quart size jars (the pots are the same size in diameter but the 16qt is shorter). So far, I have canned spaghetti sauce, chili, chicken thighs, chicken breast, corn, potatoes, chicken soup, navy beans, kidney beans, and sweet potatoes. Turns out canning is relatively easy and no cause for concern as long as you pay attention. In conclusion, both units work great with no issues to note, AND they are very nice looking.

I found that most reviews I read on big pressure cookers like this one were mainly for pressure canning and that was disappointing because for me it was about cooking. So I decided to take a risk and buy it anyway: it really cooks well and fast. I usually cook regular beans, chickpeas in large quantity and freeze them for later use: this pressure cooker is a great help in that because it cuts the cooking time by more than half! You can even cook rice and veggies in minutes. Another thing I usually do is making broth (beef or chicken) and this used to take almost all day, but with this pressure cooker, it takes about an hour and the results are amazing. Some weaknesses I found so far are:1. the discoloration that occurs at the bottom of the pot (I guess depending on the type of food cooked) but it's unpleasant,2. the bulkiness of the pot itself: it's quite large and heavy - requires muscles,3. cooking meat in it would require browning beforehand and that for me is a double work.Overall I would recommend it.
