The protective pad protects the grinding plate / grinding shoe of your sanding machine or sanding block from damage and wear. The protective pad is attached between the grinding plate and grinding wheels using Velcro. The protective pad should be changed regularly to prolong the life of the grinding plate.

Mirka's pad protectors are used between the sander pad and the abrasive disc, reducing wear of the backup pad's grip hooks. Our 9956RP pad protectors have 6 hole vacuum patterns as well as Abranet multi-hole patterns.

If you want a flawless finish I would recommend these pads as an aid to the sanding discs you use. Their construction allows one to sand with the precision only offered previously by hand. They give the user a much greater nuance of pressure and guarantees a much more delineated surface. I highly recommend these pads for the professional as well as the amateur.

They are a must have! if you are doing some stock removal.I mainly use, abranet sanding discs. The mirka ceros is justa beast!! but also a soft and gentle butterfly . the control isamazing . Be careful once you put theses on ! leave them on !cause they wear out easy . Taking them on and off.

I think, if you look, two backup pads come per box. I didn't immediately put the backup pad on but just this morning I tore through an abranet sanding disk without knowing it and ended up sanding for about two minutes right on the hook and loop surface.After that - I put on the backup disk. It's a little soft for my liking and I think it will round corners a bit. I plan on removing it if I'm around edges I want to keep sharp but then I'll work without it by exception, not as the rule.
