This product is extremely similar to Formby's furniture refinisher at a better value. A little steel wool and some rags and you can really make an antique piece of furniture shine without stripping it. I updated a dark finish side table and it turned out fantastic. The picture is after taking off many layers of a extremely dark mahogany color stain.

Effective in removing old finish. I use sparingly on first cleaning to avoid the finish becoming too thick and sealing the wood from subsequent cleaning or finishing. Best thing I have found for cleaning without altering the natural appearance.

I refinished an old buffet. It removed the old dark stain easily. I used an old glass big vase to pour in some of the liquid and oo steal wool wiped right off. Didnt eat up my gloves and was not as strong as stripper. I wish I had tried sooner. Worth the money.

Guys, this stuff is incredible. It works so much better and faster than either sanding or citrustrip. The only problem is that it will eat through plastic gloves. You’ll need heavy duty nitrile gloves. Steel wool works well, but I found a heavy duty scrub brush to be safer to use because your hands (and gloves) aren’t in contact with the liquid. Scrub and then wipe off with paper towels. The smell dissipates (unlike Citristrip). I needed 3 containers for two bookcases 36x14x77.5

I wanted to remove a layer of shellac someone had improperly applied to an old oak table I bought. I only wanted to take it off the top of the table, but two cans did not completely do the job, and my husband had to pull out his band sander.

This is the best if you refinish furniture. it works better then all others I have tried over the years. Home Depot does not carry Minwax products any longer for reasons unknown

I used different products on the table leaf and this product worked the fastest, removed varnish easily, left the wood more conditioned etc. It works fast, and dries fast. Itis more expensive than other products.I recommend this.

I got a can of Formby refinishing stuff at a garage sale and loved it so much. It worked amazing but I later learned Formby had gone out of business. Minwax bought them or something. This product is very close to the Formby refinishing stuff and even smells exactly like Formby. It's worth getting and easily removes old lacquer.

This is a great product for refinishing and restoring antique furniture. It works as described. Do follow the safety precautions (especially about working in a well-ventilated space). I am amazed that Canadian hardware stores such as Home Depot and Rona don't have it in stock. And I'm really annoyed with Home Depot who have completely stopped selling any Minwax products - I've been using these for decades, and they are very good. Fortunately I still had some Minwax furniture polish on my shelf, and this was a nice way to bring a new shine back to the furniture after I had used the refinisher. Yay Minwax! Boo to short-sighted Canadian retailers!
