I have several Minka Aire fans in multiple properties. I am quite pleased with the overall value, quality of workmanship and performance. If I had one are for improvement it would be better description of what is in the box and accessories. I wound up by to extension poles babies I was not 100% sure what came with the fan.

I thought it was silver, but it is actually white. It sells for less than half the price at my local big box store, but I wasn't sure if they were compatible (they are I checked, but not worth returning).

I don't know how to rate a metal rod -- Partially this is my fault as I didn't make an accurate measurement of it before I installed it so I can't speak for certain that it was the promised length. I mean I looked at it and it looked to be 18 inches but there is a chance that it was 17.9" (but certainly no less than 17.8")I also didn't do a careful measurement of the color -- Mostly because I don't have an accurate way to measure color but it did seem to match the fan.One downside of this rod is that the model number (DR518) is not clearly stamped on it. I guess they (MinkaAire) were thinking that it is a decorative thing and you shouldn't see a model number but I worry that if I left it mixed with all of my other ceiling fan downrods I might get confused with one is the DR518 -- A future enhancement would be to clearly stamp DR518 on it so it won't get lost among my downrod collection.Finally I have to say that the battery life is great -- The fact that it consumes no power means there are no batteries to replace -- Awesome!I am considering buying more of them to add to my collection
