The wood split after the colors dried in the compartment. I returned it and got another just to be sure it wasn't a fluke and it wasn't. I don't recommend this because of the low quality.

The paint pallet's magnets do NOT work well. They don't hold together and the pallet falls apart VERY easily. The pallet piece I received are warped and do not belong together as the colors and sizes are different. The small book that comes with the set is not meant for water. I tested it, and the page started pilling, and absorbs the water near instantly.It is simply a really cute sketchbook.The brushes are made of the same material that doll hair is made from. I did not test the paints yet, but so far this product is NOT worth the money.

Convenient size to carry around. Not high quality paint, it disappears when it dries up, so I'll have to buy more paint tubes to refill. I just recently bought it, but I hope I can use it often to do plein air painting. The seller is prompt to respond if needed.

With as many different colors as there are it is sometimes misleading as to which ones are true to the color and which ones are mixed with other colors without knowing the chemical or natural processed used.So I did some research first and here is what I found for these 12 colors. I am not listed what they are made of only the ones that are mixes and ones that are true. However, it is good to know what other colors are mixed in with those that are mixed colors as they come in handy when mixing them with other colors to come up with even another color.Colors that are mixed:Mixed to obtain these colors:OrangeScarletRoseGraySap GreenBurnt UmberTrue Colors:Medium YellowDeep Green (though some variations might be mixed)Cerulean BlueDeep BlueLamp BlackThis watercolor paint set has those 12 colors in professional art tubes, not those tiny round or square containers. Each one is 0.3 fluid ounces.The set also has a nice brown stained 2.75"x2.75" wooded pallet with paint holding square separators. The pallet has two sides and when ready to use, they are put together with magnets and a clip.It came with a 3" (inch) x3" watercolor 58 page booklet and three watercolor water tubes. However, I could not open the tubes to test the brushes. I even tried with two pliers and could not open them. There isn't any written instructions with the set and the description images can't get me past the first step which is to open the brush tubes.I still find this a nice little traveling watercolor paint set.

Terrible quality. The two wood pieces did not line up at all (they were different sizes by about a quarter inch), and the plastic mixing plate was cracked and bent, not even glued in place properly. This is my first negative review on Amazon, but I feel like this needs to have a warning for prospective buyers.The paint was fine; generic watercolors in tubes, exactly what I'd expect at this price point, which is why it gets two stars.
