Overall it feels well built. I do get concerned that the mesh cage may not last overtime. Since it is folded, I worry the heat might rupture the seam. The plastic container it comes in is very cheap. It is functional. I would have to test a Coleman mantle, the one included was a pain to put on. It did catch though so it’s there. At some point I will get replacements to store just in case I need them again. The piezoelectric starter saves on having to keep matches. I am running this off of a small propane tank with adapter. With the propane adapter, I might get another one to use at the top of my propane tree.

I like being able to depend on a single power source for lighting and cooking, especially if it's cold and my batteries wear down. So having a gas lantern is a big boost. But my dual mantel lantern takes up too much space in my car camping kit, so this is a great option for something smaller.This is brighter than expected, and easily and reliably lights. It produces enough light to cook with at a picnic table, especially if I supplement it with a headlamp or battery powered lantern, but not necessary. I got the metal globe with holes, but the glass would probably be brighter, and the carry case would protect it perfectly well.I added a lindal valve splitter from Camping Moon and now I can run my stove and lantern on the same canister. I also added a 1lb propane adapter, so now I can burn the most common fuel sources and I'm flexible for subzero temps.However, this gets HOT and I'm not convinced it is safe to run without an 8 inch extension (also from Camping Moon). The body heats up considerably and will heat up anything it touches, including the fuel canister. Adding an extension will keep the heat away, plus it'll raise the light above the table for better lighting.Full open, this burns about 60 g/hr on butane/propane canister fuel, and 90 g/hr on a 1lb propane bottle.

Right out of the box, this item seemed to be of good quality. As many other reviewers noted, don't bother with the mantle that is provided with the lantern, it's just a pain to try to install properly. Use Coleman or equivalent mantles and save yourself the trouble.The second thing to note is that the retaining clips for the metal wind-break piece require adjustments to make sure they do their job properly. I am not entirely convinced that could trust them for a lot of movement (i.e. taking this on a walk to a restroom), but for stationary use I think they would work okay.I have not used this other than setting it up for testing, so I can't say how well it works in the real world. Included are photos of it in action at night - you can see it throws off a lot of light, more than I expected. More to follow after real-world use.

Great little backpack lantern. No glass to break. I took the advice of others and removed the chain hanger. Works well and gives plenty of light on a table or ground. Don’t turn it up to max as it will turn into a cook stove with a flame coming out of the top.

This thing will heat your tent up before you can get your boots off. I have a four season 2p. On a low setting it will maintain a room temperature in 40 degree temps. It’s a Huge mental boost changing out of wet socks and clothing in cold temps. I get in my sleep system and turn it off. It’s a great camp light too. Best purchase of 2018 besides my tent. I love it and highly recommend. I use the tiny MSR 3.9 canister for 3 night missions.
