This belt sander is very simple and very basic. What I like most about this sander are the modification possibilities. Right off the bat, I was pleased to realize that it uses a simple DC power supply with a switchable output from 12 volts to 24 volts. This makes it easy to run it from a tool battery for cordless use. With a simple adapter, which I already have, I can run this from either my M12 or M18 battery packs.With the basic sheetmetal construction, I could also create simple bolt-on attachments to run a different belt path and use longer belts (e.g. 18"). An additional idler roller can be fabricated from a stack of bearings and a through bolt.The platen is adjustable and shipped in its lowest position. So this should be adjusted to better suit your needs.
