I really love these. I have them all over my house now. They are intended to go horizontal, but I have used them vertically. The labels stay in.

I love these pockets. They're SO useful. You can stick them all over the place to label stuff, and change out the labels as easily as slipping in a new piece of paper (or index card). No trying to peel off a label to put a new one on.The main way I use them though, is putting them inside the cover of my journals and traveler's notebooks so I've got a convenient spot to stick ephemera, small sticker sheets, and things like receipts.
