Works fine for most things (even entering your user pin to log in), but only if the app was programmed for it - i.e. it doesn't work for the YouTube search.Also, the base where the headset plugs in is not formed like the controller bottom, so if your headset has a formed plug it will not work when using this keypad.

This item does exactly what it's supposed to: it allows you to easily type in any context on the Xbox 360. It snaps onto the bottom of a standard Xbox 360 controller and is immediately usable anywhere text entry is required. The keys are backlit, and made so that it is easy to tell when you've pressed them.Great for games like Minecraft, when you want to do something like make a sign. Makes entering passwords, names, and messages much faster than the virtual keyboard.I considered giving this product 4 stars because I don't think there's a strong need for this device -- voice chat is faster for sending messages, and many games don't require a keyboard. But, at a price now under $10, this attachment is definitely a 5-star value.

First of all, the chatpad that I received was clearly used. It came in some cheap, unsealed package. I was bothered but I got over it. That is until I tried to use it. I tried it with 4 different genuine microsoft controllers and it didn't work at all. Returning this and won't be ordering from them again.

Since I'm mainly using my Xbox for streaming at the moment, this keypad was perfect for typing in shows on Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, and Hulu Plus. When I first received the package, I thought it was used; however, I remembered Amazon's innovative no hassle packaging (I think that's what it's called)! Very easy to open and set up.At first, it may seem like the keypad isn't meant for a 360 controller. Rest assured: it fits! Perfectly! I was scared I was going to break my controller at first. Don't be scared to use a little muscle to put it on :-). Just make sure the male part of the keypad aligns with the female part of the controller.Anyway, great product, works great. OH! The keys also light up for those that type in dim/dark rooms. Nice touch! If you're looking for a keypad for your Xbox controller, this will do the trick!

$12 with prime shipping at time of purchase.As advertised, a genuine(as far as I can tell) black 360 chat pad. It works and HAS backlit keys. I am using it on my pc in concert with my wired xbox controller. It take a bit of setup set aside a few hours not including research(I can link the process if anyone is interested. Full setup only works with WIRED xbox controller as far as I know as of this date) but in the end you can fully use the xbox controller as a gaming controller and mouse(in and out of games) and use the chatpad as a full keyboard. For this review I am using my controller setup to type this review(as well as browse around the web) without a traditional keyboard or mouse and is pretty comfortable if you are used to xbox 360 controllers anyway.

it was ever so slightly used, it was apparent by the reflective "microsoft" sticker on the back, that had some scrapes in it, and the "G" key is dimmer than the other ones. Other than the aesthetics, im satisfied. if it was 10$ instead of 15$, i wouldve given it 5 stars. the ease of access to the friends/messaging menu makes it that much cooler. i recommend.

You can easily detach when not in use.Overall, this is a very useful product, although it is not quite necessary. I would definitely recommend getting it.
