Mine works great. Have had it for several years and use it a few times a week without problems.

Beware!!! After time ( for me, a couple years of very infrequent use), the on-off switch when turned to off takes up to 30 seconds to extinguish flame and gas continues to hiss out of the unit. Very Dangerous!!!

Mine is an older unit. It's still the MT-770 but probably from 2004/2005 (looks just like the current Amazon pic but the handle has a different pattern). It doesn't get a lot of use, but always works when I need it. I use it mostly for quick things in the garage like heating up a seized bolt or melting the ends of nylon rope/cord. Maybe manufacturing changed since then & thus the 1-stars?

This torch is torched. I used it 3 times and it started shooting out a huge flame, the safety would not work andthe button that you push to maintain an even flame broke. This is a real piece of crap. I would not recommendthis one at all. I got mine from Beadaholique.com and not through Amazon for $35.00 You can get them at walmartfor $20 I plan to switch to a propane system now since I don't trust any of these little micro torches. This model isactually a Roburn MT-770 and it is marketed under several different names so be careful and do your research if youwant to purchase a Micro Torch!!!

I purchased this torch from Fire Mountain Gems. It worked ok the first two times I used it. Then it wouldn't shut off. I have to take a screwdriver and pry up the off switch to turn it off. A little scary with a lit 1400 degree torch in one hand, and trying to pry it with a screwdriver in the other hand. It takes several minutes to shut it off. I contacted Fire Mountain Gems and their response was "We have to conduct a review of all of the torches in stock. We'll get back to you in two weeks." I would not recommend this torch, very scary.
