I have been having trouble finding m4 taps that didn't break easily. The spiral design was able to PULL the chips out while you tap, unlike others where it pushes the chips down and cause your tap to get stuck and snap.

I needed an M14 tap to fill in for a missing size on my metric taps. I thought I’d be able to give it a full test, but the opportunity hasn’t arisen yet, so I’m going to give a review based entirely on how it looks, feels, and compares to other taps.I got the M14 H2 HSS-E spiral point tap. The H2 classification is for the Thread Tolerance Class (TCTR). It defines how accurate the pitch diameter cut is. H2 classification equals the basic pitch diameter plus 0.005 to plus 0.0010. In other words, it’s a pretty accurate tap, just slightly oversized. The HSS-E classification is for high speed steel with 5% cobalt added, which gives it greater strength and greater hot hardness. For taps and drilling, HSS-E is your best classification. The thread cutting edges are very sharp, uniform, and sharply defined. All the surfaces appear to be without blemish unlike some cheap taps I’ve seen. This appears to be a high-quality tap, which brings up the one strange caveat on the website, a statement to use this tap on metals with a hardness of less than HRC30. That would preclude stainless steel which HSS-E is designed to drill and tap. Keep this caveat in mind when deciding if this tap will work for you.Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? Yes, it seems to be a very high-quality tap even though I haven’t had a chance to personally test it.

But does the job and after several uses it remains sharp. I was expecting a 10 piece set, but only one bit came. So far durable.

If you're buying these in place of normal taps, you'll probably be alright. If you're buying because they say cobalt and you want to tap stainless, don't bother. They just don't cut well. I'm going to smash these with a hammer so I don't accidentally use them and ruin more parts with broken taps stuck inside. I'll just order directly from McMaster carr and get taps that I know work and actually a4e made from cobalt steel.

Building a cnc machine with 25 tapped m6 holes per 25mm linear rail x 1350mm long. I had 6 rails total, so 150 holes plus 4 per ball screw nut attach point, 8 per 20mm ball screw, 186 holes so far, predrilled with a 5mm bit, and still haven't broken my 1st tap. All holes hand drilled and tapped using hand drill, oil, and low speed.

I needed a 14mm tap for an upcoming project adding some bolt holes to a cast iron piece. 2mm pitch (coarse) sounded just fine to me and "spiral point" didn't mean anything to me, it looked like a plug tap. Actually looks like a pretty nicely ground tap as received, but the proof is in the use.Since cast iron is a pretty low bar to test this tap, I drilled a hole (ball gaged it at 12.1 mm vs 12mm desired tap drill size) in mild steel of some unknown alloy that machined reasonably well. Tap did just fine using TapMagic (you shouldn't cut new threads dry), but I had to use it by hand and work it back and forth as with any other tap. Now, I didn't really need a machine tap or a spiral point, or need 5% cobalt. I really can't speak to those attributes. Probably could have just used a less expensive, reputable, high speed steel, made in the USA, hand tap of the plug variety and been just as happy. Cobalt taps can sell for a few times or more the cost of this one. Is this really cobalt? No idea. Is this as good as those at a third the price? No idea. Was this better than a HSS hand tap that costs less? No idea.Did the job I needed, cost is reasonable. If you are a "real" machinist cutting tougher stuff, it might be worth a try vs spending more on others of the same description. If you are cleaning out an existing threaded hole, and use it as a plug tap, it will work fine. Not a bottoming tap though. There's a fair bit of variety in tapland, do your homework.

I like to do woodworking and around the house DIY projects as well as most of my own vehicle mechanic work. Fixing my own stuff is enjoyable with the right tools at hand, especially good quality taps like these for when I need to cut new threads or repair damaged hole threads. These are all M6 6mm metric taps that are identical and come cased. These use a spiral flute design which helps clear the flutes, tends to clear chips well and cut cleaner, especially for a blind hole. Each tap is shank labeled. The 5% Cobalt gives the necessary hardness to cut Stainless Steel - when used with a quality cutting oil such as Evo Dyne Cutting Fluid.I Recommend these DelitonGude Metric M6 Machine Screw Tap 10 pcs 5% Cobalt Spiral Flute Drill Taps Thread Tapping Tool(M6). Other sizes are available. Good taps for my workshop!I hope you’ve found the information and my review helpful.
