In 2002, Minus33 was created by textile engineers from L. W. Packard & Co. Inc. L. W. Packard has been involved in just about every aspect of the wool industry, and a proud family-owned business since 1916. In 1995, L.W. Packard was selected by Textile World magazine as one of the top ten textile plants in the world.
With so much of our family history rooted in the wool industry, combined with our genuine passion for the outdoors, it only made sense for Minus33 to emerge as a merino wool clothing brand. Minus33 began as a snowmobile brand, and quickly expanded to other outdoor markets, such as hiking, skiing, and hunting due the versatility of our product offering.

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.
INSULATES WHEN WET
Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.
UV PROTECTION
Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.
RENEWABLE

Great wool sock! The socks are warm and keep my feet dry on cold days. No odor after wearing for a few days. The size fits well, but I would size up since I have larger calves.

I bought these and wore them in Iceland on vacation in November. Most people were wearing 3 pairs of socks and still cold. I wore these alone underneath boots and even when my feet got damp I never even noticed until I got back to my room and took the boots off. My feet stayed warm in the boots. I am very sensitive to wool products and these did not bother me at all- super comfy. I like the sort-of compression (??) around the arch section of my foot, the extra padding, and the fact that they never slipped. I highly recommend them and will get them for others as gifts.

These have been my go-to socks for hiking and mountaineering for over 20 years now. I've rarely, if ever had cold feet, and a spare pair has worked pretty well as gloves in a pinch.

These are super soft and warm. Nice and thick. Haven’t tried them for hiking yet but I think they will be great. The fit is a bit big for my feet which makes me worried that they will slip down into my shoes. But overall happy with the quality.

Almost perfect. I wear a size 7 in women's shoes (7 1/2 in heels) and after reading reviews I went with the medium so they still fit after washing, but I should have ordered a small. These are long, not flappy long, but there's definitely a noticable amount of room at the end of my toes, and they are also noticeably WIDE from the fitted arch to my toes. I washed them in hot to shrink em, but they honestly didn't shrink, they were right back to pre-wash size as soon as I started walking around. That being said, they are SUPER warm and very soft! And the cushioned bottoms are squishy enough to keep the cold from my hardwood floors from seeping in (even kept the cold from the cement out when I had to run out to my car real quick) which is exactly what I was looking for, since I wanted them to wear around the house during the winter. Seems my hands and feet and nose are always freezing this time of year, and at least now my feet are genuinely warm. I like these enough to buy another pair (in small) hoping for a better fit. Oh, and like other reviews, they are a bit snug when I pull them up all the way (you can see a little print on my leg in the pic) not so tight where I am uncomfortable, but it is noticeable. They do have an unexpected bonus... they are AWESOME for running and sliding fast across the floor! My kids have nothin on ME!

Update: I've had these socks for over a year now. I wear them to work almost everyday, and they are still in great shape. The shedding eventually stopped and they're still thick, soft, and warm. They dry quickly and there's hardly ever any smell to them. Five stars all day!I bought these as an alternative to Smartwool socks. I'm a carpenter in New England. I spend a lot of time outdoors in the winter. Smartwool socks are what I've come to rely on to keep my feet warm, comfortable and relatively dry. I've had these Minus33 socks for almost a month now and they are very comfortable. They're thick, soft, and warm. As someone else mentioned in another review, they do snag easily when wearing them around the house. I've also noticed that they seem to shed much more than my Smartwool socks, so I'm concerned that they will become prematurely threadbare, but so far they are definitely holding their own.

I have only become a wool sock afficianado recently and have purchased 3 different brands on Amazon - all of which I love! I wore all of my other ones for about a month before I decided to get a couple of more pairs. I selected these just to have another sample of a different style and brand.Holy cow! These define awesomeness! Very thick, very soft, very luxurious. I will not ever buy another brand, in fact, I will go ahead and order several more pairs after I finish writing this just in case they somehow disappear from Amazon.I highly recommend these for everyday wear, no matter the climate. I live on the Gulf Coast and they keep my feet both warm and cool (I know that sounds strange, but it is true). They also keep your feet very dry by moisture wicking. And are they ever comfortable!I wear a size 12 or 13 shoe and I ordered the XL. They are a perfect fit.I washed them once when they arrived and wore them - no itchiness or scratchiness at all! Absolutely incredible footwear! Try a pair and see. You will not be disappointed!
