Made of the finest raw materials designed to support the disc and be flexible enough to allow the disc to respond to material being sanded. It is mandatory that all discs be used with a backing pad.

I didn't like that the backer is threaded so I drilled the threads out to match my old one and I like it better that way. I like the rubber backers better than the hard plastic it contours better and feels nice wile in use

The problem with this is the sanding pad threads onto you sander then on goes the sanding disc then the retainer gets threaded onto the sander. So you need to use the spanner wrench to tighten the retainer and then hope you have enough threads to tighten the whole affair up. Stick with a non threaded backer pad. Too bad really well built, but makes it a pain to change sanding discs.

Used it for 1 hr now on my large electric grinder at 5000 rpm -- worked perfectly on fiber glass. with very aggressive Mercer flex spiral grindng disks.

These seem to hold up well on the small grinders using 36 grit sanding pads. They won't "shatter" and injure you or people around you.

I purchased this backing pad with hopes that it would be a nice, quality product that would work well on my new grinder. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. When I first opened the package I was disappointed at the quality (or lack thereof) of the backing pad. Sharp edges on the aluminum and a cheap feeling rubber. Nonetheless, I thought it would work just fine despite this, but boy was I wrong! My first use of this was grinding welds on some steel tubing, and within ten minutes two thirds of the rubber decided it no longer wanted to stay attached to the rest of the pad and launched itself into my hip and down to the floor.I'll admit I was really hogging with a 36 grit pad. However, it was on a grinder with an 11,000 RPM limit, and I treated this backing pad no worse than those on other grinders in the shop. It simply could not withstand the workload of a professional environment.

They work well, hold the sanding disc ferm doesn't allow any slipping
