It seems like I am always assembling something (furniture, carts, this stool, lol) and I am getting too old and cranky to constantly be bending down on the floor to do it, so I was hoping this would make things a bit easier and it certainly has. I take the unassembled stuff to my deck and roll around on this stool as needed assembling parts. The wheels are made for this type of weight and rolling (as opposed to chair casters that I keep seeing appear inappropriately on rolling carts, for instance) and the tool tray means that I am not constantly hunting for what I need. Big improvement.

I do a fair amount of work in my garage, and have a few different types of rolling mechanic seats. This kind has a fixed height, and is rather sturdy. The wheel are only made to roll on smooth surfaces, but inside of my garage that is fine. It was pretty easy to assemble the stool and the wheels are of decent quality. I like the metal bars that connect under the seat, instead of it just depending on the weed inside of the seat pad. There are no dividers in the bottom tool tray, but that shouldn't be a problem. The seat has a decent amount of padding and is pretty comfortable to sit on.

This stool is very easy to assemble, and it will make a significant difference in your comfort while working on your vehicles. It's a good height to reach parts on a car/truck while on jack stands, and the tray below helps you switch tools, often with one hand in while in the middle of a removal/install of a part. This will help your back and keep your knees from going on a hard floor as often (which causes joint problems later in life). Order one for the health benefit.

SUMMARY3.0-stars--Not all that "heavy duty", but acceptableBACKGROUNDThis came up as a Vine suggestion and since my old roller seat was dying from old age, I agreed to review it.INITIAL OBSERVATIONSThe ad claims a weight rating of 250 lbs. Although I don't weigh that much, I could see it being subjected to that much or maybe a bit more if I was rotating the tires on my car and I decided to pick up the tire while seated in the roller seat. I wonder if that weight rating is for the seat itself or for the caster wheels. If for the seat itself, I could easily modify it by adding a bit of metal between the top and bottom of the U-shape side riser that is made from square tubing.COMPLAINTS / ISSUESNo major issues at this time, but I will revisit this review if I discover are any issues in the future. I suspect that the first thing to fail will be the wheels because I've had that happen quite often with casters in a garage environment. The wheels are not as wide / thick as the wheels that you see even on cheap furniture mover dollies, but if the design goal is just 250 lbs, I guess you don't need them to be *that* robust. The foam on the seat is pretty useless. It is an open cell type of foam and your butt quickly hits the hard surface underneath it (i.e. it provides NO cushioning). I would recommend replacing their design with a piece of 2x12 with closed cell foam for cushioning.IMPRESSIONSIt comes in a fairly flat box completely disassembled, but it is pretty quick to assemble. It comes with an allen wrench in one of the bags of hardware, but I did not notice it until I had already finished installing the bolts that needed that tool. I used my own allen wrench in that size that I already had on hand. You will need either a medium size slip-joint pliers or possibly an adjustable end wrench to hold the hex top on the wheel swivel while tightening the allen bolt / nut combination that screws onto the shaft of the wheel. You will also need two wrenches (14mm or adjustable end) to hold the hex heads of the acorn nuts and bolt heads when attaching the vertical U-brackets that support the seat.It rolls smoothly enough and seemed sturdy enough, but a bit extra reinforcing in the U-shape riser probably would be worthwhile. The tray at the bottom is plastic instead of metal. It is supported by the horizontal U-shaped piece of square tubing that the wheels mount to. A metal bracket across the open part of the U-shape would help.CONCLUSIONThe product seems acceptable as a light duty creeper seat. It's not what I would call "heavy duty" like their ad claims though. It's simple enough in construction that it would be easy to modify into a more robust design though, so I'm going to rate it as "average" (i.e. 3.0-stars).ORIGINAL AD DESCRIPTIONMechanic Creeper, Car Creeper Seat with Tool Tray Storage for Garages, Repair Shops, Heavy Duty Garage Floor Creeper, Padded Mechanic Roller Seat for Men, 250 LBS Capacity, Black$34.99STAR RATING SCALE5.0 Excellent product (or perhaps customer service); There is NO room for improvement whatsoever; NOTHING is perfect, so this rating *should* be EXTREMELY difficult to achieve.4.5 Very above average4.0 Above average product; Something about it sets it a bit above similar products on the market.3.5 Slightly above average3.0 Average product; Meets expectations, perfectly serviceable, but does not do anything that sets it apart from similar products; Does not have some features that makes me say, "Wow, that's a neat feature".2.5 Slightly below average2.0 Below average product; Something about it is a bit lacking; It could be conflicted specifications or errors in the original listing or that it was arrived with damage that was unlikely to have occurred during shipping and should have been caught in either the manufacturer's or seller's quality control.1.5 Very below average / slightly poor1.0 Poor product; Waste of money at ANY price; Blatant lies in the original listing.0.0 Extremely poor product; doesn't work and seller either ignores contact attempts or takes an extremely long time to respond, possibly trying to run out the window for returning a product; possible scam seller; a seller or product has to screw up *really* bad to get this score:ORDERED:2025-02-14:RECEIVED:2025-02-18:REVIEWED:2025-02-19:ASIN:B0DPZYV6FZLast Modified: 2025-02-20 00:33:20

Bought this for Grandpa—he’s a car wizard, but his knees are not what they used to be. This creeper? Total game-changer. It’s cushioned like a cloud, rolls smoother than his old Oldsmobile, and the tool tray is a lifesaver. Grandpa’s under the car, zooming around like he’s in a pit crew instead of a guy who needs a cane to get to the mailbox. No more bending or awkward squatting. Just pure, knee-friendly garage magic. Honestly, he might never get up again, and I’m fine with that. 10/10, would recommend to anyone with creaky joints or a car-loving grandpa!

This stool sets you at a good height. Low enough to do brake or lower body work but high enough to be able to stand back up without grabbing onto things. A good thing when you are getting older. The tool tray is plastic and mounts to the lower frame. While it is more than strong enough to hold tools and parts, excessive weight like standing on it may break it. The same can be said of the seat. It can support 250 Lbs sitting on it but excessive weight in the center of it like stepping on the center of it could cause it to fail but this is not a step stool, it is a sitting stool.Assembly is pretty straight forward and not difficult. You will need a 14mm socket and wrench, a Philips screwdriver (stubby preferred) and a set of channel lock type plyers. The stool does come with a hex key for attaching the casters but you still need the plyers to tighten them. Make sure to keep all of the fasteners loose until fully assembled and then tighten everything up.Keep in mind that this is designed to work on smooth floors. It will not work well on dirt of gravel. The wheels are too small for those surfaces and will just get stuck. It does roll around well on the garage floor and will move in any direction. I think that this will be a good addition to my garage tools.
