From the Manufacturer
Energy loss through the bottom of doors can be minimized with the installation of a door bottom in conjunction with your smooth top threshold. This combination provides a weatherproof seal between the bottom of the door and the top of the threshold. Drip caps also provide your exposed entry ways protection by diverting water away from the door bottom and thresholds. M-D Building Products offers multiple combinations of new and replacement door bottoms and drip caps that will fit most entry doors.

As a direct replacement they fit great but don’t hold up well. The outer edge flaps will rip pretty quick and easy. Then you have a dangler and have to decide to trim it which looks goofy, rip it off which reduces its effectiveness or leave it and just look stupid. Should last longer than a few months.

Did not even last a month before a 3” section of one of the flat pieces tore out and was hanging out from under the door. The previous kerf seal lasted for several years. The seal was definitely not snagging on anything.

The El cheapo door I out in had a super rigid weather seal that made the door very difficult to open/close. This one makes the door normal to open/close, and still seals out the weather perfectly. And it fit the factory groove that the original seal used, so gave a factory finish. Terrific.

This type of door sweep was not easy to find in local hardware or big box stores. Easy to fit and easy install. The price was reasonable and now we will just have to wait and see how it wears over time.

This was a perfect fit door seal replacement for my door. I could not find the same door seal replacement at my local stores. My door is 32” wide, so I needed to trim the seal. I used snips and followed the old seal shape on the ends. Pull out the old seal and snap the new seal in place. I’m very satisfied with quality and price.

My previous door sweep wore out after 15 years of use ... the rubber parts on the bottom were breaking off. Could not find the right replacement in big box stores. This one via Amazon is the perfect thickness to the thickness of my door. I trimmed off the length from 36" to 32" which was easy. I took my door completely off the hinges and laid it door and it was then easy to install this sweep. No nails or staples. It press fits into the grooves on the bottom of the door. Stars removed because it does not make as tight a fit down my door sill as the previous one. The pieces of rubber from the sweep came all bent over and I tried to straighten them ... they sort of make a decent air block fit to my sill but it could be better.

When I received the product the fins were all folded flat and one directional. Read all the comments on similar problems. Here's what I did and it worked.1. Put the weather-strip next to the fireplace to get it warm.2. Tried pushing the fins in opposite direction that they were laying. Helped a bit but I wanted them vertical.3. Took my package age tape dispenser. With my wife helping, put tape from one end of strip to the other, folding ribs the opposite way of the way they were laying.4. Put it back next to the fireplace for the night.5. Next morning took the tape off and most fins were facing vertical. Pushed the others just a bit and everything fell into place.6. Installed unit into the door. Door was heavier that I remembered.7. With strip on bottom the door was very hard to open and close. Took a little WD40 on a rag and rubbed it on the plastic. Door opened and closed, was tight but closed and no leaks. My rating is a 4 out of 5 because I had to straighten the fins.Product great and works with a little help from me.
