Apparently, someone parked it took the one lug nut out and returned it when I bought it. It was missing parts, one lug nut, which made it useless

I bought these because I lost my original wheel lock for my car, and the chinese-made substitute that I bought couldn't hold up to the necessary torque requirements to attach the bolts to my vehicle. I just installed these in place of my old wheel locks and the wheel lock was easily able to withstand the 100 ft lb torque requirement to properly install the wheel. They weren't cheap, but definitely solid quality.

Nowadays we can’t be to careful. The more security you add to your less likely thieves will want to deal with it. I live in NYC and wheel theft is a big problem. Just keep in mind where you put the lock remover and make sure it’s locked or very well hidden. There’s no sense in keeping it in the glove box only so thieves can break in to grab it, and take your rims anyway.

Always had a quality product from this company, and these are also. They're slightly shorter than the OE lug bolts, but I assume that's not critical (though I am curious why)(could be to keep the weight the same). These can be beaten by someone with knowledge and time, but they do provide a deterrence factor and they're worth the investment.

Before buying, I went to mcgard website checked the part number, searched on amazon turned out to be this one though amazon says it will not fit my car.Went to a local tire store and they installed them for me, it fits well, as you can see from the photo it's a little bit shiny compare to other balck one, of course you have another option with the black one which will match OEM ones, but need to pay a few more dollars, for me this is totally fine.

Amazon's "It Fits your vehicle" said the Gorilla Automotive 47020N Cone Seat Bolt Locks (14mm x 1.50" Thread Size) would fit the 2012 E70 BMW X5, but not so. These McGard 14mm x 1.25mm are the correct size for this vehicle. Hand-start the wheel bolts for 2-3 turns to avoid risk of cross threading before you touch them with a lug wrench. Since I live in the snow belt with heavy winter salt use, I put a light coating of anti-seize compound on the distal 1/4" of threads, the part of the wheel bolt that penetrates the wheel hub flange and corrodes heavily if not protected by the anti-seize. Amazon carries anti-seize with aluminum, copper (Permatex 09128 Copper Anti-Seize Lubricant, 8 oz.) or ceramic (Permatex 24125 Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant, 8 oz.) bases depending on your needed temperature range from about 400 degrees to 1000++ degrees. If your wheels are getting too hot to touch (140 degrees+) or smell hot after a drive, have your trusted mechanic check to be sure the brake calipers are not sticking, an increasing problem when the original calipers approach 80,000-100,000 miles of usage. Don't use too much anti-seize compound, and never use oil or grease as there is a risk of oily or greasy tools or fingers contaminating the brake rotor surface. This is a big No-No. Besides the four security wheel bolts and the "unique" adapter (fits 17 mm lug wrench, this kit has coded stickers for glove box, produce registration and to order a second adapter key for removing/installing the wheel bolts. Save the key and the four original wheel bolts in a heavy duty zip lock bag in the trunk or glove box as you must have the adapter key if you ever have to remove the tire or fix a flat. Why not five stars? I just installed them today. Will the chrome finish hold up or start pitting after a season or two of road salts? Are they durable? Update in a year...

I have always put McGard wheel locks on the cars I have/had in the past 20 yrs, so when I was shopping for custom wheels for my '08 R56 (MINI Copper S), I naturally looked for McGard wheel locks. However, the new MINI uses a new bolt size (M14x1.25) that weren't available with McGard at the time, so I waited until now to purchase new wheels, after I made sure I could get the wheel locks for my MINI. I wouldn't install custom wheels without McGard wheel locks.

Wheel locks were a good price they were shipped quickly but the only problem was that i use that size bar to see if they fit my 2008 BMW 750i said they will come to find out they were the wrong size and did not fit at all. The size i needed was 14 x 1.5. So dont trust that size metter make sure you know the size your looking for.
