There is a completely white fiber filter membrane without any gridlines. Then there is a separate circle of shiny paper with printed grid on one side. They are not attached to each other, simply packed in the same pouch. They have different porosity, different dry and wet physical strengths, the grid is weakerThe grid paper becomes transparent when wet, the membrane is unchangedThe grid is able to shift in relation to the filter, throwing off countsIf the filter is saturated, the grid may not be visible beneath it, yet a true top gridded filter would still be visible.I don't have a lot of experience with these materials, so maybe this is typical. But none of that is pictured or described in the product summary. It seems like those details might be important for several applications. It certainly affects mine which involves liquid flow through the filter clamped in a frame. The membrane stays in tact fine, but the grid tears away and flows through the lines blocking later stages of the apparatus.

I sometimes like to try out various filtration and purification methods for my perfumery projects, so I was interested to come across these 0.45µm membrane filters, which are good for filtering out bacteria, apparently. I'm in the process of researching practical methods by which I can filter out some of the larger-volume particles in my fragrance compositions, which can potentially clog my spray bottles, and be left with a more clear and liquid product. These membrane filters are somewhat like thin coffee filters; I don't have any additional equipment, to ensure that there's no spillage, but the products are uniformly made - they're individually wrapped, and they're ostensibly sterile. Thanks for offering this item on Amazon!

Works very well to do microscopic research in labratory setting. I use this in my home labratory and it has helped me immensely while doing my personal research. Very good!

Locofiltr MCE Gridded Membrane Filters offer a reliable and user-friendly solution for various laboratory applications, particularly those involving microscopic analysis and research. Here's a summary of their key features and potential benefits:Pros:• MCE membrane composition: Made from biologically inert cellulose acetate and nitrocellulose, ensuring minimal chemical reactions within the biological environment.• Gridded design: Features clear gridlines spaced at 3.1mm for easier colony counting and observation under a microscope.• Sterile and individually wrapped: Ensures minimal risk of contamination and simplifies handling.• High microbial retention: Effectively captures and retains microorganisms for analysis, with a survival rate exceeding 90%.• High porosity: Facilitates fast filtration and provides a large surface area for adsorption and binding.• Smooth and uniform surface: Enables easier microscopic observation compared to pure nitrocellulose filters.• Black gridlines on white membrane: Provides clear contrast for enhanced particle detection and reduced eye strain during observation.Potential considerations:• Specific application suitability: While the description highlights various applications, consulting user reviews or technical specifications might be helpful to confirm suitability for your specific needs (e.g., compatibility with certain solutions or analyses).Overall, Locofiltr MCE Gridded Membrane Filters appear to be a well-rounded option for various laboratory applications, particularly those requiring reliable microbial analysis, ease of use, and clear microscopic observation.

These are packaged nicely in sterile little packages. The woven in gridlines are helpful as well. They work nicely.

As someone who likes to test and experiment with science of foods and beverages, herbalist extracts and things at home.. this is extremely useful when I need to filter (especially through distillation for botanical extracts, small batch perfume filtration) etc.Note, thin sheets are individually wrapped and sterile, is lab quality. I will have to filter many different items before knowing how well it works (I just used tap water to test now, and it performed as expected)Also is very thin and picks up static, so if not familiar with these, to avoid waste, pay attention at open and transfer
