Shipped fast. And the bag is a nice big size for the money. It’s one of Scrats favorite foods.

I used to use the Kaytee brand rat blocks for my hamster due to it being more accessible to me when I saw this here and was eager to swap, immediately noticed a significant difference. Let’s be honest these things don’t look fresh. I mean they’re pellets, but compared to the Kaytee pellets they had a rich smell, and texture wise they seem softer with a slightly warmer color. The Kaytee kind always seemed like hard unappealing and dry masses. I mixed these in with them and gave them to my hamster. She left the Kaytee blocks and took the mazuri blocks into her hide. Needless to say I’m switching for good.On the left you can see the Mazuri block is a little bigger, slightly warmer, and the Kaytee blocks are smaller, extra hard and have a sort of dark gray undertone to them

Mazuri offers a balanced nutritional profile, ensuring your hamster gets a well-rounded intake of vitamins and minerals. This can be particularly helpful if their primary mix leans heavily towards treats or seeds, which can lack essential nutrients. The addition of Mazuri pellets also adds some enrichment to your hamster's life. The foraging instinct is strong in these little creatures, and Mazuri provides them with the opportunity to explore and nibble on something different.Another perk? Mazuri's inclusion of yucca schidigera extract can help control ammonia odors, potentially reducing how often you need to clean your hamster's cage. It's important to note, however, that Mazuri wasn't designed specifically for hamsters. The protein content may be higher than what some hamster mixes offer. Because of this, Mazuri should be used as a supplement, offered alongside a hamster-specific primary food source like Higgins Sunburst. Not all hamsters will take to Mazuri right away. Some might stick with their usual mix, while others might enjoy the occasional Mazuri block as a crunchy treat. The key is to monitor your hamster's food intake and adjust as needed.Overall, Mazuri Rat & Mouse Diet can be a useful addition to your hamster's dietary routine. It provides balanced nutrition, variety, and potential odor control. Just remember, it's best used as a supplement alongside a hamster-specific primary food mix. With a little experimentation, you might find that Mazuri becomes a welcome enrichment for your curious little hamster.

As a former elected board member of one of the largest mouse breeding and show communities, I take my rodent nutrition very seriously. Enter Mazuri Rat & Mouse Diet—the gold standard in mouse cuisine. If my mice could write a Yelp review, they'd be giving these lab blocks a Michelin star.Let’s talk protein and fat content. These blocks are more on point than a vegan chef at a quinoa convention. It’s like the mouse food equivalent of a protein shake and a Sunday roast had a baby. These blocks have the right balance, ensuring your rodents get the nutrition they need without leaving them feeling like they just attended an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet. Now, let’s talk price. If you’re looking for a bargain, look no further. The cost-to-quantity ratio is so good, I started wondering if they were giving me a discount because they heard about my impressive rodent breeding résumé. It’s a solid product at a solid price. You won’t break the bank feeding your furry friends, and your mice will be eating like royalty (without the tiny crown, though). If you want a healthy, happy mouse that won’t start a protest for better food, I fully endorse this lab block. Five stars for being the unsung hero of small mammal nutrition and keeping the furry crowd both fed and fabulous.

My little guy can be picky about rodent blocks and historically has not eaten them well. He cleans these up and is very excited when he hears the bag! There is a little more dust/fines than I would like, but overall this doesn’t detract from the value for price, nutrition, or palatability for him.

Mazuri rat food is pretty much the gold standard for rat and mouse lab blocks. You can't really go wrong with it. However, there's always room for improvement. Four suggestions to Mazuri....1) Make it less crumbly and dusty. When the rats eat the blocks, the blocks leave behind more food dust than most other blocks. This could be improved.2) Make your lab blocks taste a bit better. My girls seem to prefer the Oxbow and Kaytee stuff over Mazuri. Granted, I like Mazuri over those brands for other reasons, but that's a different topic. Mazuri could improve the taste a bit I'm sure3) Sell your lab blocks in bulk bags for lower prices. You'd blow your competitors out of the water if you did that.4) You (Mazuri) might consider making a young rat version of your lab blocks. I know lots of companies do that. Young rats tend to need more protein than older rats. Just a thought.Overall good product. I can't complain. My rats like it, the vet likes it, and I generally like it. I actually tasted one of the lab blocks once. It's a bit bland, but not bad honestly (it ain't five star restaurant food, but I figure the least I can do for my girls is to make sure their food is palatable by trying it for myself one time).
