Perhaps you have a pet that’s a bit of a fussy eater. And you want to ensure that they’re still getting grass hay in their diet. In which case, Super Soft and Leafy 3rd Cutting Timothy Hay might well be the answer to your problems. How is this hay different? 1) Very soft, contains less stem and seed head than second cutting - it is our softest Timothy Hay; a great way to get even the fussiest of eaters starting to enjoy hay. 2) Rare to find because it’s difficult to produce well, so most farmers simply don’t bother. 3) Harvested in late summer/early fall when the weather begins to change, this type of hay is hard to find.

I've been using Small Pet Select hays for several years for my nearly 12 year old bunny. It varies which cutting he prefers but because of his age he seems to prefer the softer Third cut timothy hay. Clean and good quality hay. I'm very picky about hay having purchased hay for years for my horses and my rabbit. It makes a big difference in their digestive health. The boxes work well for small pet use.

this kind of hay was green and fresh but also very crunchy. It's a good thing for our bun buns to wear their teeth down on.

My girls really love this Timothy hay over the Orchard hay. Very green and the girls wheeked before I even opened the box it was so fragrant and fresh. Don’t let the delivery date estimate put you off - it comes earlier than they estimate.

I have bought from this company a couple years ago and had foxtails in the hay. I had too through away. I waited a couple years tried again found a dead animal and bugs in it. Waited a couple more years and tried it again. 1st 2 orders of 3rd cut nice and fresh and green. Bunnies loved it! The order I just received is not 3rd cut it is green, brittle and dusty. It is horrible bunnies won't touch it.

I used to just get hay at the pet store for my rabbits, but they've always been picky about hay and never liked it when it was hard, green, and stiff. They will throw more than half of it in their litter box and we just throw it away when I have to give them that.I used to get it soft like 2nd-3rd cut half the time, and half the time it was the hard green stuff but recently, they stopped selling anything else aside from first cut it seems. The brand I bought didn't sell other cuts, so I don't know what happened or why the hay just stopped being soft ever, but it became a real problem, because I was spending a lot of money on hay, and my bunnies wouldn't even eat the majority of it.I was a little worried when I read the reviews and saw that a lot of people said the larger sizes weren't any good, because I definitely needed a larger size, but for the price I figured it was still worth it to try. I paid the same amount for 20 lbs of this that I would spend on 5lbs of the hay they don't eat.It was perfect! There were a couple little weeds in it but nothing that effected the overall quality or was bothersome. First cut is always a little dusty, but again, not a problem. They now eat ALL of their hay, and I'm getting way more for way less money! Everyone wins! I wish they would sell it in stores, but I'll definitely continue to buy this from now on. Even if I do get a bad batch here and there it's worth it for the reasonable cost and nice quality of the hay.And another plus, I don't have to wear gloves to feed them anymore either! The other hard green hay used to actually cut my hands up. My hands are sensitive. I always had to wear gloves. This is so soft, it doesn't poke in the slightest. If you have picky hay-eaters, I would highly recommend this, and I know my rabbits would too!

One of my guinea pig is a picky eater, he won't eat a lot of hay so he has to visit the vet for his molar trim quite often. I found out this 3rd cut of hay may help him. On the first few days he sniffed it, but then he did start eating it. It's been almost a few weeks now, he eats it everyday and he seems really like it.

I've been purchasing Timothy Hay (3rd Cutting) from Small Pet Select for the past 5 years and for the most part, it has been the best on the market. Super soft leaves, mostly green in color, and nere a weed. My last three 10 lb boxes have been nothing like what I'm used to. They've contained predominantly brown leaves throughout and are filled with the harder stems you'd find in the 1st or 2nd Cutting which causes so much waste because my pigs won't eat it.In my most recent box that I received last week, I was so happy when I opened it because it appeared to be like the earlier boxes I'd purchased with mostly soft, green leaves on top. Imagine my surprise when I reach in to grab a handful for my pigs and my fingers are stuck by thistle thorns. I figured maybe it was a random one-off weed, but no. This box has so many thorny leaf clusters/stems and prickly seed heads. I try to carefully pick through the hay to avoid all of the prickly bits when it's feeding time, but inevitably I end up with tiny needle thorns stuck in my fingertips and under my fingernails. It's not pleasant. At this point, I should probably just sort through the entire 10 lb box so I can avoid stabbing myself multiple times each day. I can't imagine these needle-like thorns would be safe for the delicate tissues on guinea pig's feet or their mouths?

The quality of this hay has declined. My rabbits loved it in 2021, and I have bought it for the last 2 years. The first 2 boxes were good, but the last three boxes have not smelled fresh, and have a lot of brown clumps which are inedible. This is not fresh hay.

My baby bunny will eat whatever hay I give her but my older bunny will not and is very picky. I was recommended small pet select 3rd cutting so I placed an order for 2lbs. I was blown away by how fresh, soft, and green it was. My bunny loved it! But I ordered a second box this time 10lb and the quality was awful. The hay was brown and dry and dusty. Not even the same realm as the first 2lb box and no returns. I HIGHLY recommend getting the smaller box if you can. Giving four stars because the 2lb box was so great

I buy a LOT of hay for our herd of house rabbits (5 in total) each week and to make sure that they don't get bored (which sometimes easy for them to do when 85% of what they eat *is* hay!) I always give them different options rotating mainly between 1st/2nd cut from different shops and sellers, sometime meadow, sometimes timothy etc. So far it has kept them all super-healthy and our bunnies love to eat it. However, by far their favourite is 3rd cut and I have always struggled to get decent 3rd cut timothy hay until now.We have had three orders through Small Pet Select for 3rd cut and its really great quality, lovely and green with broad leaves of grass in it (which they love as it helps to wear their teeth down). It also comes in a nice cardboard box which the buns love to jump into and play in and no plastic bags used.If you want to get some really tasty hay for your pets to add into the mix along with 1st/2nd cut then I would highly recommend this one!
