Seriously, this is a solid product that so far doesn't shift (gotta make sure the 'f' is in there for this review) at all. Much better than plastic hinges and seats.

I recently needed to buy a new toilet seat and I prefer those with the metal hinges, so I usually go to Home Depot and get one made by Bemis. I was shocked to discover that some low IQ individual working for Bemis decided to radically change the design on how to install the hinges to the ceramic toilet. Abandoning a design, might I add, which has worked PERFECTLY for many decades. Instead of a single, headless screw bolt that you add washers to and which then screws into the fixed hinge caps, and then you position the seat and side those bolts thru the holes and then screw on the retaining washers from underneath - this new design has screw bolts with HEADS on them that have to inserted under a clip in fixed hinge caps. This design was HORRIBLE and inefficient - so I returned the seat to Home Depot. It cost me $48 dollars and some change. Got on amazon and found this seat with the traditional hinges, costing me a little over $26. Had it installed and operational within15 mins. Plus I save a ton of money!08-07-24 Update. The toilet seat suddenly 'cracked' while I was sitting on it. Left side of the seat, a horizontal split through and through. I don't know if this particular seat was defective or if this entire brand has the same problem. I did not keep the original box, so I am out the $26 I paid for it.

I don't know why almost all the toilet seat manufacturers switched to plastic screws for the toilet seats but the are the worst! Of course with the pandemic, everyone raised prices. And both Lowe's and Home Depot charge a lot even for the plastic. So after extensive search, I found this toilet seat with metal posts and screws. The posts are well seated. The seat is hard and solid. I don't feel like it will break when I sit on it. I installed 2 plastic seats before this one. Despite making them as tight as possible, the seats came off the toilet. I tried adding rubber washers with no change. These seats are easy to install. They have a nice finish which is easy to clean.I would happily spend the extra money for more of these seats! They make noise when you put them down. The didn't adjust. I had to add this last statements or Amazon would post my review.

It makes the toilet look brand new. I was hesitant about the install--it really locks in place, so I hope it's not a headache if I ever need to replace it! But it's very sturdy, does not move at all. Solid piece, and the chrome attachments match the handle. I'm very aware when closing the lid, but I think even if it dropped down, it would still hold up well.

Very good quality for the price. Fits on toilet perfectly and was easy to install. Was alittle worried that it would break fast or come defected from reviews but mine is in good working condition.

The photo clearly shows that it should fit a toilet with 5.5” inches between the holes that the seat is affixed to. But this seat requires that the holes are 5” inches apart. Small difference, but it renders the item useless. It’s not like hardware and ceramic bend to fit a half inch difference lol. Sad waste of time and money. Otherwise, seems like a good quality item that I would have liked to be marketed as the correct size so I could actually install it.

Great price, easy to install and seems durable. My only issue is the way it was packed it cracked the plastic nut and plastic seating piece used to attach it to the toilet itself.

I purchased a different toilet seat from my local plumbing supply store for double the price of this Mayfair seat, and I despised it. The Mayfair is superior in every way. Here’s how (Mayfair vs other):1) Wood vs Plastic: The Mayfair wood seat is much sturdier than the plastic. I sit on the closed lid to put on socks, etc. and the plastic lid always felt like it was going to collapse. Unfortunately, plastic seats greatly outnumber wood seats in toilet seat inventories.2) Instant close vs Slow close: This is a personal preference, but I dislike slow close because I put the lid down before flushing and I don’t like waiting 15 seconds for the lid to slow close before I can flush. It’s very difficult to find toilet seats that aren’t slow close these days, but this Mayfair in non-slow close.3) Metal vs Plastic hinges: The metal hinges on the Mayfair are much sturdier than the plastic. Once the bolts are installed and tightened (which was easy to do), the metal hinges stay in place and don’t loosen up as the plastic ones tend to do. There are very few toilet seats made with metal hinges anymore, but this Mayfair has metal.4) Ample width vs Too narrow: The plastic seat was much narrower than the Mayfair and barely fit on the toilet bowl without sliding around, no matter how tight the bolts. The seat opening was also much narrower and not comfortable to sit on at all… ugh!It was a happy day when I replaced the pricey previous seat with the perfect Mayfair seat. Hard to believe that a mere toilet seat can be such a quality of life issue, but it is!I’m actually going to buy one or two more Mayfair seats to have on hand since there’s no guarantee they will still be in stock down the road when I need to replace one.
