Have purchased other soft seats for my guest bathroom and they were so cheaply made, however this one is very sturdy and easy to clean. Seems it will outlast the others I've purchased.

Don’t waste your money on one of these padded seats. The cheap vinyl split open within a year of installation.

Sturdy, easy to install, and truly comfortable to sit on -- even for a person with inflamed sitz bones and painful sacro iliac joint (thanks, arthritis).Design-wise, the seat locks into the plastic bolts securely (and stays that way). When cleaning, the seat readily detaches from (and reattaches to) said bolts. The lid and seat are linked at the hinges near the bolt locks. As such, the design requires both lid and seat to remain attached to be functional. Additionally, the closed lid is comfortable and durable enough to sit on while cleaning a neaby tub or clipping toenails, etc.Materials-wise, the foam stays pliant and retains its cushioning. The surface wipes up easily; the lid and topside of the seat itself retains its whiteness One minor cleaning caveat: the underside of the seat's vinyl seems prone to discoloration, but cleaning it with a bleach solution/cleaning spray seems to do the trick.Durability wise, I bought this seat to replace a seat of the same brand and model/design (here, repackaged under Mayfair brand). The previous seat lasted 4-5 years (which I consider good mileage for a foam toilet seat). After 4 years of use in the only washroom of a 2 adult household, the lid arms cracked and eventually snapped at about the same time that the vinyl's finish had begun to wear down. To me, this translates to the quality being consistent overall.

For those of you that have used soft toilet seats before, you don't need to hear why they're awesome. For those of you that haven't or don't:FOR THE LOVE OF YOUR BUM GET THIS ONE, OKAY? OKAY.First off--price can't be beat for the lifespan. I'm on my second one in, like, four years? But here's the thing, soft- and hard-seat users alike: this is a *quality* cushion for your butt.Seriously.Okay, so: you use a toilet often, right? (If not please see your doc.) It's not just the fact that you're there to do a job and get on with your life. Sitting funky (or for, er, longer periods) does a number on more than your butt--your legs, back and spine, hips...etcetera. Treat yourself right, but treat yourself SMART.Enter this particular Mayfair bum-cushion.It's supportive. It's got a wood core. You ever get a dollar-store soft seat? What even? Do you *like* falling in? Does it wake you up in the morning? (Okay, they're not all that bad, but believe me, once you've tried this one...) This one supports your body, not just your bum, and helps you do what you came to do. The wood core isn't hard to your behind; the cushioning is robust yet comfortable, and doesn't flatten out for me. I eventually replaced the first because a tear appeared in the cover--after two years of very regular use. That's pretty damned good for a toilet seat, y'all. The covering material is also sturdy and easy to clean. It's comfy, it's not balls-cold in winter, and you don't skid around.Oh, and the installation! It's a freaking joy, man. Taking the seat off for whatever reason is cake, popping it back on is the same. It plays nice with a self-install bidet without needing extra feet or padding (don't knock a bidet until you've tried it, dude, so FRESH) and that wood core is just tough as beans. Are you still with me? Do this. Love yourself, love your butt.

Here are the differences between that seat and this one. I liked the Comfort Seat seat pretty well and could have used it longer in spite of the fact that the internal wood frame broke on one side after about 8 months. It was still usable and the break did not affect comfort, but for appearance sake, given that it wasn't an exact match size-wise to the toilet to begin with and that the break was obvious to look at, I decided to switch and try this seat. The color on both seats is the same but the size is slightly different. This seat is longer front to back and fits the Kohler bowl perfectly. Although the bone is very slightly darker in color than the biscuit color of the toilet, the difference isn't noticeable. The seat is very comfortable to sit on and good-looking. It is easy to install and due to its unusual fastening method is easy to take off to clean. I didn't need any tools to install the attachment devices to the toilet. They look much like the regular long plastic bolts, but have a special slot around the top into which the seat tabs fit. By turning the seat tabs to one side you 'open' them so the seat can be set onto these attachment bolts easily. Then you turn the tabs in the opposite direction (well-marked 'open' and 'close' on the tab itself) to lock it onto the toilet. By reversing this process you can easily remove the whole seat for thorough cleaning. It's just a toilet seat, but the reason we continue buying the Bemis is because of its "easy clean-and-change hinges." It really is a quick change, which facilitates cleaning and replacing it. It's also a comfortable seat. We personally prefer padded seats because they provide comfortable cushioning for however long or quickly you're seated, and they don't get as cold, especially during the wintertime or even just when the AC is pumping in the hottest part of the summer. Yes, they do eventually tear at the seam between the top and bottom of the seat, but it's worth it. Besides, even though we keep ours clean every two weeks, the tears that eventually occur force us to change the seat out with regularity, whereas most people probably leave them on indefinitely or at the very least for far too long. This is a replacement for the padded Comfort Seat I originally put on my Kohler Highline toilet with an elongated bowl. About 6 months ago I noticed our old toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom was grungy and the paint was starting to crack so I went to the hardware store and bought a replacement. Our old one was plain, white, wooden so I decided to spice things up a little and I bought a walnut wooden seat. Well you would not have guessed it but my Wife and Daughter both thought it was horrible. It just didn't look right. Being the man of the house I put my foot down and said "your just going to have to learn to like it." As time went on I found I didn't like it either. Because of the way it mounted, it wouldn't stay on tightly and every time it started to loosen up I had to stick my head down in that general area in order to reach the hardware to re-tighten it.This week I order this Mafair 13-000 soft seat.Well, the only complaint I can come up with is that the description doesn't emphasis that you can turn two locking mounts and REMOVE THE ENTIRE SEAT for easy cleaning. The mounting system is genius (and I'm an Engineer so it takes a lot to impress me!) In addition, it's soft, its warm, it mounts the first time very easily and, as I said, it's easily removable for cleaning the toilet.
