I like it. Looks nice, works well.

I haven't yet managed to fit the Max/Min thermometer as it only has a keyhole shaped mounting hole and my greenhouse has an all metal frame. I will need to make up a backing plate to which I can fit a screw for the instrument to hang on, and at the same time allowing the backing plate to be attached to the metal structure - somehow and I haven't yet come up with anything suitable. The greenhouse structure is all aluminum as are the screws that hold it all together. These screws are all cut to length so that there is nothing left to which I can attach the plate to. This is annoying as the instrument looks great and is well made and my old Max/min mercury/alcohol thermometer has worn away internally and so does not register accurate temps any more.

This min/max thermometer is much nicer than an older plastic unit we’ve had in the past. It has an elegant look to it. No issues with accuracy when compared with readings from two other thermometers. Just have to remember that the US Fahrenheit scale is the inner ring. It is very helpful to know what the min/max temperatures have been in our RV during the times we’re not there.

I got this to track temperature in my enclosed porch in early spring and my garage in the winter. I use the porch to as a staging area for vegetable seedlings before planting in the garden. I store some vegetables, like potatoes, in the garage in the fall and winter. So this thermometer works nicely to show you the min and max temperature. It's easy to reset. There are 2 concentric knobs in the center, one for the max temp reading and one for the min temp reading. You turn the max knob counterclockwise to set the max reading arm near the current temp. Note, it's a bit stiffer and harder to turn. Then you turn the min reading arm clockwise to just below the current temp. Once you're used to the feel of how they turn, it just takes a few seconds to reset.I prefer this to battery powered versions. I've been using this for multiple years now, and it continues to work well.

Max needle was hard to move to reset. Left by plant and it acted as its own greenhouse and max temp was off the scale (50+) while the outdoor temp was only actually 22C or so. Reset needles to try again on a cloudy day. It rained and thermometer filled up with water. It was dysfunctional before and is now completely useless. Not for outdoor, not for direct sunlight, you know .. the places where plants like to grow.

I purchased this for my chicken egg incubator. I have a thermometer/hygrometer on each shelf. This one is way off on the max temperature compared to the others. It says the incubator is getting up to 116-120F which is impossible. I would not be having any hatching eggs if that were true! All of my other hygrometers say 34%, but this one is reading at 56%. I am returning it.

The reviews for these thermometers are all over the place, which made me hesitant to buy any of them... but I really wanted a mechanical Min/Max Thermometer that I didn't have to babysit a power supply for. Batteries tend to fail quickly in a greenhouse when it's hot & when temps are below 40° F.I bought 3 of these Min/Max Thermometers... & they all work. All are accurate to the degree, compared to 5 different thermometers I have. Even the hydrometers are accurate to within a 5% variance.Reviews that complained about the min & max needles moving together... I've noticed this happened with mine, only because the min needle was clocked fully counter clockwise... so when I set the max needle, the min needle also moved. What you need to do is set the max needle 1st... then set the min needle. This way they move separately.Don't have loose needles or overly tight dials on any of the thermometers I bought.

Knob is extremely hard to turn, almost unusable, to reset the high temperature. Wearing gloves helps to turn the high knob. Bought this as I have enjoyed the one that I bought in the past (which is not hard to set). Case is not waterproof, so hang in a sheltered area if possible.

You may notice that previous ratings for this item are all over the place, and you probably wonder why? Well, unfortunately, based on my experience with 3 of the same thermometers, all of the ratings are correct. The problem seems to be quality control, a real disappointment, considering these were made in England, not China. In December, I ordered 2 thermometers, one for myself, one for a gift. Glad I did, because one was accurate, the other was not. So I gave the good one as a Christmas gift, and returned the other for exchange. The accuracy of the temperature readings on the two was worlds apart (one very accurate, the other 10+°F too low). They both appeared to be well constructed, with good materials, and resetting the min-max indicators was easy. On the replacement I received, the temperature reading is accurate, and it, like the first two, is well constructed. However, resetting the maximum indicator is virtually impossible without a set of pliers (as a previous reviewer mentioned; I thought she was exaggerating; she wasn't!). I thought about returning it for a third try, but decided the next one might be worse. I figured I had one with an accurate temperature, and that was more important than easy-to-reset indicators. So I'm sticking with the one I've got, and I only bother to reset it when temperature extremes are predicted that I want to record. And I'm hoping that with use, the reset knob will get a bit looser.I did not mention the humidity reading, because I didn't tested that for accuracy. Based on our local TV meteorologists' reports though, it seems to be reasonably close. This is a very pretty, even classy-looking, tool. It is well-constructed of nice quality plastic and metal. If it weren't for the light weight, I would think the front of the dial was glass. Crystal clear, no flaws that I can see. As I said, very nice.

Over the years I purchased quite a few Hi Low Temperature Thermometers, all of which have been the now discontinued mercury style affairs. The glass tubes are always far too delicate, and more often than not they break too easily.I've bought several Brannan products over the years, and they have all been excellent quality, and very accurate, so when I saw this rather attractive round needle thermometer, I thought I might give one a test run.The rear casing is made from good quality ABS plastic, if it was metal then the metal coils that react to temperature change would give an inaccurate reading. The main body of the thermometer is a nice metal bronze antique style affair, very clear to read, and the three hands, coloured black, red and blue are also made of metal.Setting both Hi & Low temperature needles is very straight forward, but the main black temperature needle gives a surprisingly accurate reading, that due to its design takes quite a while to settle. That is a good thing, because you know the temperature is being measured carefully.Even the small humidity gauge beneath, responds slowly, and quite accurately as well, compared to the very accurate digital Oregan Scientific weather station on my wall, it works well considering it's a very basic leaf spring construction.Without having seen this temperature gauge in the flesh before purchasing it, there was always a risk that the £13 had been too much to pay, after all it does look very nice in the photographs, but thankfully it represents very good value for money, and above all it's very accurate and if cared for properly should last many years.Always a risk buying a product without seeing it first, but it turns out this was money very well spent.
